Stoner Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 'cause I wanna laugh in that poster's face.... Agreed. But after his second period, you wouldn't be laughing as hard.
wjag Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 It was me... It really wasn't a question about whether they were better off without him, but whether they should change their style of play with him. The title was done to catch some attention and just generate some discussion. You know, kind of what a message board does.. I'm a big TV fan. Always have been.. I just hate the offense that has him a tipster and nothing else. He was anything but a tipster tonight.
Knightrider Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I would say without a doubt that that was his best playoff game...
SDS Posted April 16, 2010 Author Report Posted April 16, 2010 Much better in the third again. :) Altering your opinion of a player period by period is ummmm.... not reasonable.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 He forechecked, he backchecked, he stood up to Chara, and he scored a Huge Goal. Imagine if he got hot like Malkin did last year...
shrader Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 He forechecked, he backchecked, he stood up to Chara, and he scored a Huge Goal. Imagine if he got hot like Malkin did last year... 6 goals in 3 games qualifies as hot to me. PLEASE SUSTAIN THIS LEVEL!
Stoner Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Altering your opinion of a player period by period is ummmm.... not reasonable. My opinion of Vanek didn't change. My opinion of his play did. How's Montador been looking?
Hsoj25 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 My opinion of Vanek didn't change. My opinion of his play did. How's Montador been looking? It wasn't his fault, Ruff was coaching him into the ground during the second
Cereal Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 My opinion of Vanek didn't change. My opinion of his play did. How's Montador been looking? Your avatar looks too much like nobody's. Very confusing.

I just hate the offense that has him a tipster and nothing else. He was anything but a tipster tonight. Fair point. I think it's obvious Vanek has much more to add offensively than screens and tips. Not that those shouldn't be part of his game, it's just seemed too one dimensional at times. I do remember a play against Montreal this season though, on a 5 on 3 where he had Hal Gill so focused on removing him from the crease, he completely forgot to cover the backdoor pass, and boom! - PP goal. Should've had an assist on that.
blugold43 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 While we're at it, let's rustle up some of those retarded threads about the Lindy Ruff needing to be fired.
wonderbread Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 'cause I wanna laugh in that poster's face.... "if it was you on this wall you wouldn't be laughing at all"
Marvelo Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I think it's fair to say that some of these players don't really try until the playoffs. There are just too many games, too much travel, too little practice. It's maddening as a fan to see players lumber through the regular season but the playoffs is where Vanek and others can let it all hang out and redeem a mediocre season. I liked the low shot off the far post last night...shades of Danny Gare?
Eleven Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Your avatar looks too much like nobody's. Very confusing. Hopefully, it will end up looking very different from nobody's.
That Aud Smell Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 But after his second period, you wouldn't be laughing as hard. the whole team was getting rolled in the second. on balance, that was one of his best games as a sabre. I just hate the offense that has him a tipster and nothing else. He was anything but a tipster tonight. both valid points. How's Montador been looking? mid-way through the second, i started having panic attacks when i saw him on the ice.
Stoner Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 mid-way through the second, i started having panic attacks when i saw him on the ice. Ruff must have liked what he saw -- 24:18.
DaFan Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 mid-way through the second, i started having panic attacks when i saw him on the ice. OMG! Me too! How many give aways did he actually have?

nfreeman Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I just hate the offense that has him a tipster and nothing else. He was anything but a tipster tonight. But it just can't be the case that Lindy tells him not to do anything except hunker down in front of the net. IMHO, when he's dialed in to the game, he skates hard and consistently, like he did last night. Now, it's possible that he had some kinda groin strain/ankle/other injury that hampered his skating most of the year. He did say something after the game about injuries and feeling better.
static70 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Wait, let me get this straight, Vanek dissappears for larger portions of the regular season, thereby costing this team leverage in positioning for the standings, which could have led to home ice advantage through out the playoffs and now all of a sudden, after showing up for 3 games you want people to say, All Praise Vanek, he has scored 6 goals in 3 games............Please, give it a rest already. Here's a clue, to be considered to be an elite player, you actually have to show CONSISTENCY through out your career. Now, granted, this season has been an off one for Vanek, but that is his own doing, not the fans who expect more out of him.
