Wow--you picked a great game for the debut. Have fun, and welcome to the board (and to live NHL hockey)! Not sure the weather is great for tailgating, but if you do, have a great time and grill some good stuff. You might want to get to the lot by about 10 to have time to set up your grill, cook, break it down, and make it for the drop of the puck. Maybe even 930. If it's rainy but not cold, you might do well to score a parking spot under the ridiculous highway network; that way, you'll at least be dry. If you decide not to, there are great pregame options nearby, and not so nearby. Post again if you need suggestions. And have a great time at the game. I'll be three sections over.

It will only be loud and crazy if you and everyone else that is going makes it that way...

Don't let some old season ticket holder that doesn't cheer stop you from doing so...

Have fun

so cool.

sabres tailgating is limited, sporadic -- the surface lots nearest to the arena will generate some -- but the weather on saturday is supposed to be craptastic (even by football 'gating standards). all that said, one of the admin's pointed out that there's a tent set up for the plaza party -- the beer trucks there might be serving pre-game.

welcome to the board - y'all come back now, hear?

Sabres vs Bruins, 1983 Playoffs. That was my fist live hockey game. I'll never forget it...it still brings tears to my eyes. I have been to many since, but that game laid the groundwork for me. I was only 7 at the time and can still feel the noise.

ENJOY!!!

I'm not from Buffalo,so I'm not exactly sure what pre-game festivities take place. But,I usually like to be in my seat about 45 minutes prior to game time.Watching the pre-game warmups is somewhat of a pre-game ritual for me.

Whatever you end up doing though, have fun! :)

Can't stress that enough. Getting there, settling in, getting a bite to eat, watching the warm up. You hear the skates on the ice, the crisp passes, pucks off the posts, etc so much better when the crowd isn't there and cheering. It's all part of the experience...5.5 hours to game time!

Congrats and enjoy - nothing like the NHL live, especially playoff hockey. It's a day you'll remember the rest of your life.

My "firsts" were Bills-Dolphins in 1969; Sabres-Blues in 1970; Braves-Pistons in 1970; and Jays-Angels in 1977. I remember them all like it was yesterday.
