26CornerBlitz Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 The NHL Draft Lottery is being shown live on Versus tonight at 8 PM EDT. Bruins will get the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd pick thanks to Brian Burke dealing the Leafs #1 for Phil Kessel.
eball Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Boston fans are more excited about the draft pick than the 1st round series.
LabattBlue Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 While Toronto gave up a lot to get Kessel, it's not like the next guaranteed superstar(Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, etc...) is in this years draft. I am not even sure if Hall or Seguin are on par with Tavares from what I have read. From Toronto's perspective, the trade looks a a lot worse if they end up in the bottom 5 again next year and Boston gets another high #1. If Toronto manages to finish in the middle of the pack, the trade looks pretty even as they get a guy in Kessel who has scored 30+ goals twice and won't turn 23 until the fall.
VansTheMans Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Hall is one creepy looking kid. Fish face. :bag: Hall and Seguin can play hockey though. Bostin is about to HIT THE JACKPOT this summer. I can see Edmonton possibly taking Seguin, and Hall going to play for his dream team in Boston. Hall will instantly replace Kessel, once again giving them a legit scoring threat to play with Savard. I can also see Boston moving Thomas in the summer. Tim Thomas is still a very capable starting goalie, and teams will be attempting to get him this summer. Boston could pick up a legit player in any trade for Thomas. Boston will be back with a freaking vengeance next season. Quote me on that.
bunomatic Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Bruins will be back sooner rather than later because they have a g.m. thats not afraid to make moves and alot of the reasons for their downfall this year are injury related.

That same GM is the source of their problems. He got jammed by the cap thanks to horrible contracts to players like Thomas, Ryder, Krejci, Sturm, Wideman, and Morris. Did they really have to spend that money instead of paying Kessel, their only goal scoring option? Next season another laughable contract kicks in for Lucic. Their top needed move will be dumping Thomas, but good luck with that. Three years at a $5 million cap hit? No one is going to go anywhere near that. They'll be carrying that $2.5 million cap hit for 6 years once they decide to buy him out.

Sabres fans couldn't stop blabbering about how Buffalo needs a player like Lucic, once Boston lost much of their skill up front Lucic no longer looked anywhere near as effective. There's a 100% certainty Sabres fans are lost on that fact, at the first opportunity they'll be campaigning for another grinder. They'll be jumping for joy the minute the Sabres draft another Zack Kassian or Marcus Foligno.
