carpandean Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I'm becoming more impressed with Phoenix. Good, hard-hitting team that can score. I like how they bounced back and won a Game 6 on the road. I'm really rooting for them on Tuesday - if they win, I'm wondering what NBC is going to do without Detroit in the playoffs. Doesn't matter. We all know that the Blackhawks are going to represent the West ... and lose. Why? Hossa.

Eleven Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 A well-written article about how the NHL is reverting to 2002 is here: http://espn.go.com/nhl/blog/_/name/nhl_playoffs/id/5135591/shocking-nhl-get-hossa-call-wrong

Even if the NHL were going to suspend him, his gamewinner completed robbed them of that possibility, How would it look if the NHL suspended a player scoring the gamewinner in OT? "Yeah, uhm... Uuuh.... Guys.... Well... Yeah, the on-ice officials didn't think it was a misconduct, but we're gonna hand him two games anyway. Sorry about that, Nashville.....".
wjag Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Where's the puck? http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=35&id=67507 Watch long enough and you'll see something you haven't seen before. ;)
Buffalo Wings Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 NBC will make sweet, sweet love to Philly, if that happens. Or Washington...or Chicago...or Pittsburgh. Somewhat unrelated question - in all the time that NBC has had the NHL, have they ever broadcasted a game on Canadian soil? The 2007 finals had two games in Ottawa and the 2006 finals had three in Edmonton, but did NBC or VS carry those? Not trying to cause a stir, but it seems like they won't broadcast a game involving Canadian teams unless they have to.

If I recall, Hossa scored shortly after he came out of the box, right? Let's assume Hossa was given a game misconduct - what's to say the player serving his major came out of the box and wasn't in the same position to score? Low odds of that, I'm sure, but it's worth asking. Besides, Nashville should only be pissed at themselves for giving up a "short-handed" goal to Chicago in the waning seconds of regulation.
Stoner Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 The last two nights, games on Center Ice have been blacked out on my DirecTV. I'm still getting NHLN so I don't think someone pulled the plug on CI. ???

The majority of the tv audience for hockey always comes from the home markets. If they televize a game involving a canadian team, that's one home market they get absolutely zero viewership from. The hockey addicts out there might not like it, but that's business.

SarasotaSabre Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 If anyone sees an updated DTV program guide with a listing for tonight's game, please post it here.....thank you The last two nights, games on Center Ice have been blacked out on my DirecTV. I'm still getting NHLN so I don't think someone pulled the plug on CI. ???

SarasotaSabre Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 It will be on, my guess is that DTV has not updated the program guide with the correct channel for the broadcast....not uncommon in playoff time Tonights game doesn't even show up on the guide for the CI channels. I have a bad feeling about this...
SabresneedaCup Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Looking at the game preview for tonight's Kings/Canucks match-up I have to ask a question. How good will the Canucks be if Luongo returns to form? His 3.11 gaa and .882 save percentage is shocking. He was shaky in the Gold medal game, is he officially on the downside at 31? i dont think he was all that great to begin with.
Eric in Akron Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Tonights game doesn't even show up on the guide for the CI channels. I have a bad feeling about this... Time Warner Cable lists the game being on Center Ice for today. Channel 754 for my time warner listing.
jbeazy Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Anyone know where I can watch the sabres game tonight on the computer for free? I am in Vegas and Versus is showing Caps v Mon which sucks.
SarasotaSabre Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I just spoke to a DTV customer service rep. (totally worthless) who told me that she did see the game anywhere in her guide, which leads me to believe it is probably going to be somewhere on Center Ice, but DTV did not get the program update from CBC in time to update the DTV program guide.
SarasotaSabre Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 My on-screen (TV) display shows a non-HD broadcast on ch. 638, but there is no reference to ch. 638 on the directv.com program guide, hence the source of confusion MY DTV SHOWS IT ON 638 PER USUAL...
Chief Enabler Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Habs up 2-0 after one? Bueller? Bueller?
K-9 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Wouldn't it be a pisser if the 1,2,3 seeds were all eliminated? I just may have to root for the Habs to do that. Nah, I could never bring myself to do that. I have to shower now just for having the thought. GO SABRES!!!

K-9 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Isn't that pretty much what happened in 1999? Yeah, and it was a pisser then, too. GO SABRES!!!
deluca67 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 So what happens if the Habs beat the Caps in game 7? Regier was applauded for doing nothing in free agency and at the trade deadline which got the Sabres nowhere. Here are the Habs that completely overhauled their roster and are in a game 7 against the best team in the NHL. I'm just saying.

Your FA point logistically works...but the trade deadline point doesn't. The Habs overhauled with FA, the Caps went crazy at the trade deadline. Just goes to show (along with the Kovalchuk trade) how ridiculously overrated making a deadline deal is. You improve your team from development and free agency...not wheeling and dealing on the clock.
