spndnchz Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 So we don't want to count shootouts now? A shootout is 100% dependant on the goalie!!!! Miller doesn't let more goals in than the other goalie under the EXACT same set of circumstances......he doesn't lose Rask is .697 in a shootout, Miller is .645. But Boston has three shooters over 50% we only have two. And it's dependent not dependant.
Chief Enabler Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Sekera not Butler via morning skate. Makes sense to me, given the recent Olympic stress experience on Sekera. Butler is the new Paetsch.
Stoner Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Rask is .697 in a shootout, Miller is .645. But Boston has three shooters over 50% we only have two. And it's dependent not dependant. That's something ink would do.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Rask is .697 in a shootout, Miller is .645. But Boston has three shooters over 50% we only have two. And it's dependent not dependant. 6'3" 165lbs 75 games in 26 weeks Those are the only stats that will matter in the end
carpandean Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 6'3" 165lbs 75 games in 26 weeks Those are the only stats that will matter in the end Rask's height/weight and Miller's GP?
SwampD Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 6'3" 165lbs 75 games in 26 weeks Those are the only stats that will matter in the end Why? Who's that? Because Miller is 6'2" and 175 lbs.
Eleven Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Makes sense to me, given the recent Olympic stress experience on Sekera. Butler is the new Paetsch. Don't give up on Butler yet. And based upon the position shifting, it's Sekera who is the new Paetsch. I have higher hopes for both Sekera and Butler, though.
Eleven Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Want my 3,000th post to be a good one, so here goes: 'Twas the night before Playoffs 'Twas the night before Playoffs, when all through the rink Not a player was stirring, not even a coach; The sticks were hung by the bench with care, In hopes that Lord Stanley soon would be there; The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of hockey pucks danced in their heads; And ma in her jersey, and I in my gear, Had just settled down for a long spring tear, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the rink I flew like a flash, Tore open the doors and gave them some cash. The moon on the breast of the playoff run Gave the lustre of mid-day to the ice below, When, what to my wondering eyes should fix, But a grand team, and 24 graphite sticks, With a little old coach, so lively and gruff, I knew in a moment it must be St. Ruff. More rapid than eagles his players they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name; "Now, Connolly! now, Vanek! now, Pommers and Grier! On, Big Easy! on Milsey! on, Tallon and Roy! To the top of the circle! to the top of the net! Now score away! score away! score away all!" As season that before the wild playoffs came, When they meet with an obstacle, played their own game, So up to the division-top the players they flew, With the sleigh full of pucks, and St. Ruff too. And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each fans hoof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down from the rafters Ruff came with a bound. He was dressed in a suit, from his head to his toe, And his clothes were all furnished with the blue and the gold; A bundle of videos he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack. His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And his moustache was as white as the snow; The stump of a bear he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath; He had a broad face and a little notebook, Where he wrote down, who gets the hook. He was happy and cheerful, as playoffs were here, And I laughed when I saw him, and poured him a beer; A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread; He spoke many word, and went straight to his work, And filled all the goals; then turned with a jerk, And laying his hand onto the players backs, And giving a speech, about the will they nack; He sprang to his bench, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all skated like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere they drove to the net, "Lord Stanley to us, and the Bruins they fall." Nicely done. Was thinking my own Christmas theme this morning when I started humming "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" to myself. This not only completely outdid that, but confirmed my thought that playoff season = Christmas. No, XC, not from a religious perspective. Strictly secular.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Why? Who's that? Because Miller is 6'2" and 175 lbs. Maybe when holding a bowling ball
Chief Enabler Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Don't give up on Butler yet. And based upon the position shifting, it's Sekera who is the new Paetsch. I have higher hopes for both Sekera and Butler, though. I always thought Sekera was the new Soupy, but Myers is the new Soupy. Butler is just okay all around, still my Paetsch
nfreeman Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 6'3" 165lbs 75 games in 26 weeks Those are the only stats that will matter in the end What about the # of millimeters his eyes are off-center? Don't tell us you're abandoning that theory? I always thought Sekera was the new Soupy, but Myers is the new Soupy. Butler is just okay all around, still my Paetsch  I still think Sekera is the new Soupy. Myers isn't the new anything. He's from a different species.
That Aud Smell Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 I always thought Sekera was the new Soupy I still think Sekera is the new Soupy. i am holding out hope for sekera as well (and, not a dim hope -- if i had to wager, i'd wager on a productive nhl career as a top-4 guy). i think both reggie and but-sy will be all right (although i allow for the possibility that one or both will come into their own elsewhere). but Myers is the new Soupy. EDIT: agree with the sentiment above. myers is from a whole 'nother mold -- soupy was good and even great in certain respects -- myers is potentially elite, even generational.
Wraith Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 "Lindy Ruff just announced that Jochen Hecht had to have another procedure on his finger yesterday and will be out for "weeks, not days." Looks like he's out for the entire series, perhaps longer if the Sabres advance." From Mike Harrington
eball Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Rask is .697 in a shootout, Miller is .645. But Boston has three shooters over 50% we only have two. And it's dependent not dependant. FWIW, all regular season OT and shootout W/L should be removed from records when comparing potential goalie playoff matchups. OT in the playoffs is "real" hockey, not a 4-on-4 ice show, and of course we know there are no shootouts. Give me the regulation W/L percentage of the two and we'll compare apples to apples.

Chief Enabler Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 NECN article today on Miller/Rask, series in general if interested..... Today's Bruins Notes
carpandean Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Yikes. Those 3rd and 4th lines look sloooooow.. Kaleta is one of the faster guys on the team.
billsrcursed Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Wow, looks like some of the Bruins players aren't too happy with the Myers hit on Boychuck. Also lots of whining about officiating from their media, which is expected I suppose. Hope Myers keeps his head up on Saturday....

Should be entertaining, seeing the Bruins hop off their skates trying to REACH Myers' head.
Eleven Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Just noticed that Craig Ramsay, Doug Houda, and Bob Essensa all are Boston assistant coaches. Ramsay spent last night at Buffalo General. Hope he gets well.
