OCinBuffalo Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Ahh, that felt better. I know, I know, we are all supposed to continue to revere Drury for what he did here, etc. Or, it seems like that is expected anyway... ...but for only tonight, it's awfully nice to tell: 1. Captain "Clutching My Stick Makes Me Invisible!" 2. the condescending MSG announcers 3. MSG people that decided not to broadcast Sabre away games in HD 4. that old ###### on MSG that lamely tries, with a bunch of old music and pics, to pretend that the NY Subway and Rangers, HAVEN'T sucked for most of their history 5. Linda "I root for the rags ON AIR" Cohn to blow it right out their ######. Also, having spent a year and a half dealing with Penn Station twice a day, it pleases me greatly to know that there is a whole lot of crying and gnashing of teeth going on in that vicinity tonight.
bunomatic Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 We all know he scored some pretty 'clutch'goals when playing for the sabres but as far as I'm concerned the day he pulled on the rangers jersey he sold out.Dust off those clubs Drury maybe you'll do better on grass.

Buffalo Wings Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Drury became one of my all-time favorites during the 06-07 season and I still hold all the respect in the world for him. Yes, he made the playoffs the past two seasons and we didn't, but it's awfully nice to have clinched the division against his team. As sick as this will make most of us, how happy is LQ right now?
wjag Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I saw some Ranger fans at breakfast yesterday. I wished them well. It was a reality check to see a Number 23 Rangers Jersey with Drury's name on it. After watching some of his games this year, I've got to admit his game has slipped.
Calvin Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 did anyone notice if Drury came over to congratulate the Sabres boys on winning the division? that would have been a classy thing for the ex-captain to do. i do admire Drury for what he did while a Sabre, as well as his performance that Olympics earlier this year.. but while he has the Rag on, i will hate him with equal passion as i will Avery and the rest of that dysfunctional lot
Mbossy Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I saw some Ranger fans at breakfast yesterday. I wished them well. It was a reality check to see a Number 23 Rangers Jersey with Drury's name on it. After watching some of his games this year, I've got to admit his game has slipped. Saw a few of those Drury Rangers jerseys last night. I told the one guy "hey, I've got one of those 23's too. And I'll never wear it again."
inkman Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I told the one guy "hey, I've got one of those 23's too. And I'll never wear it again." I have to imagine Rangers fans aren't far behind you. I liked Chris, as a player, when he was a Sabre but the fanboism that has followed has really left a sour taste in my mouth.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Anyone who watched the Olympics knows Drury is still a leader. But the Rangers are just a bigger bunch of pansies than even the Sabres. You can tell he hates playing in NY. I cling to my fantasy that Quinn and Regier right a horrible wrong and bring Drury back to Buffalo this offseason. PTR
LabattBlue Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I like Drury for one thing...Wasn't Quinn prepared to match the Rangers offer and Drury basically said FU? If Drury had actually agreed to stay here at his NYR salary, I'd hate Quinn even more than I do today.
Marvelo Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Revenge is sweet. Both Drury and Briere are two peas in a pod IMO. The Rangers fans have been eating Drury alive, kind of like the Vanish treatment, but to give so much $ for a thirty-something is just a sign of managerial dementia. Don't know why they've hung on to Sather this long: you can't just buy and assemble a team from all four corners of the earth, you have to build it. I'm hoping the Sabres have knocked off the Rangers from the playoffs, like they did to us with Gomez last year and that the Sabres meet the Habs in the playoffs and can go bombs away at Gomez, who deserves a great deal of revenge. Also in the back of my mind is Patrick Kane giving the Hawks the Drury treatment when the contract is up and jumping over to his hometown. It's about time Buffalo gets a homegrown star, although I'm more than happy with Kaleta and even Kennedy as honorable hometown foot soldiers.
elcrusho Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Chris Drury won nothing for the Buffalo Sabres.... I'm glad he is on the Rags and not on the Sabres
inkman Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I cling to my fantasy that Quinn and Regier right a horrible wrong and bring Drury back to Buffalo this offseason. PTR The only way I could ever imagine this happening is if the Rangers/Sabres would want to swap Vanek and Drury. It's hard for me to imagine why either team would want to.

PTR On his current contract?? ###### NO! ###### him.. didn't he parade that line about having dreamed of playing for his home town and all that? How'd that work out for you then Mr. Drury?

PTR There is zero chance of this happening at Drury's current contract. Now, it's conceivable that the Rangers might buy him out, which would make him a UFA -- and I would be very happy for the Sabres to bring him in at a reasonable price. But NFW on his current deal.

Good points. As an aside, if Drury makes any waves by talking about coming back to Buffalo, he's going to have as sour a taste in my mouth as Michael Peca did when he started talking to DR about doing the same thing.
