He hasn't even been to HSBC this season.

How can he assume then? I'd be embarassed. haha

Ya know, he's right there. He can hear you.

The Northeast likely will put four teams in the playoffs. How is that a pathetic division? The Southeast division is the pathetic one. Swap Washington and Buffalo, and Buffalo is in first place in the SE (and Washington in first place in the NE). Swap Buffalo for either NJ or Pittsburgh, and Buffalo is fighting for first place in the Atlantic (and the swapped team is in first place in the NE).

This is exactly why when someone says, "Can't you just shut up and be happy, we're in first place," I say, "No."

Only by looking at the individual wins and losses and who those wins and losses were against can you get a true measure of the Sabres. I'm concerned.

I get you. Not the same as someone saying the NE is a pathetic division, though. It isn't. And the Sabres still would be in first place or fighting for it in either of the other two divisions in the conference.

No one wants you to shut up. And you are always concerned--it is your nature. If you were not worrying, you wouldn't know what to do.

Nor am I, I'm just stating a simple fact. Just out of curiosity though, how many arenas in the league have you been to? It's a little presumptuos to say that the HSBC is ONE of the quietest arenas in the league if you haven't been to more than two or three different ones around the league.

I'm going by what I hear and see on TV. I didn't have to be in the Bell Center on Saturday night to know it was loud. You can see the entire building rise as one when the Habs score -- in a 3-0 game, almost no one left til the final siren.

What's this all about? It's about Lindy Ruff sucking the life out of what should be a rabid hockey town. I hope he's been listening, to the crickets, the boos and the creepy silence. And I honestly hope, if Kelley's report is true, that what he heard was the tipping point. Maybe in his heart he knows it's his time to move on, for everyone's sake.

Could not disagree more that the Sabres would be fighting for the division lead right now if Pittsburgh or Washington were in their division... say nothing of what it would be like if out West. But maybe I'm wrong... who knows. I do know that this edition of the Sabres absolutely infuriates me (and I know I'm not alone) because of its soft mentality and poor offensive skills. I actually enjoyed myself going to the arena more in pre-lockout days. I knew the Sabres were no good, but didn't despise half the forwards like I do now, and question the effort almost every night. Again, just me. But of course it's nice to be in the Playoffs - I'm just looking for one of two things... a team I like - or a team that can win the Cup, even if I don't like the players/style. I'm not sure we have either right now.

That's my point. In the past 2 months, what exactly have they done right, beat Tampa? I was happy about that but it didn't give me hope for the playoffs. Did they figure out the PP? Did they figure out Ottawa? Did they figure out how to get up for a big game?

I am very excited we are in the playoffs and I am thrilled we are in 1st place, but it sure is an ugly 1st place.

By the way, do you know folks on Doebler Drive in North Tonawanda? If so, I think I know who you are. Maybe that's why we think alike? ;-)

I figured it was you. I finally converted that cassette to mp3.

You have to understand that it gets old when the posters with lots of time on their hands are always from the half empty school (except Sabres Republic who thinks the glass is totally full no matter what.) It would be nice to see a bit of enjoyment on what the team has done right, instead of the constant focus on "the concerns."

Actually, I see the glass as it is. It is rare that I would see a glass totally empty and I definitely do NOT see the glass as totally full under all circumstances NO matter what - NOT happening!

As for the general topic, it seems to me that regardless of their seeding 2 or 3 these Sabres are on a path toward winning a championship sooner rather than later. Methinks they can do it all this year and each of them realizes the golden opportunity presented to them despite the results of the last two games.

GO BUFFALO SABRES!!!

Do u think if u say it over and over again that'll it'll be considered true by someone outside of ur home? The arena atmosphere this year was a bit under years past. But to call it the quietest building in the league? Please. More booing this season than any in recent memory? But we're one of the quietest buildings? Do people boo in "quiet mode"?

The only thing that should be disconnected is ur life support system. Ur getting annoying and making this board un-enjoyable.

The last few games (with playoffs clinched) at the arena were awesome, loud, exciting, fun games. Lindy's given them a plan of how to play, and he's held them accountable to it.

That's complete bull$hit! There is zero accountability in that locker-room. How many players only meetings? How many times do we have to hear how the players stray from the system? What did Miller call his teammates? Fragile little children? Here we are in the final handful of games and this team isn't ready for a Saturday night game in Montreal? I've lost track how many times we have heard this team wasn't ready to play over the past three years. The only great coaching move Lindy has in his bag of tricks is to write Miller's name on the lineup card. A hot goalie and a Eastern Conference that may be at it's all-time weakest. That is what the Sabres have going for them heading into the playoffs.

Why do u still watch or follow the Sabres then?

Why do u still watch or follow the Sabres then?

Because I love the sport as I have my entire life. That doesn't mean I have to lie to myself about what I am watching.

Why do you watch? What's the point of following a team if you can't be honest about what you are seeing? Do you watch movies and laugh simply because it was billed as a comedy and not because it was funny? Do you watch a TV show simply because it is top rated and not because you find it interesting? Do you order food at a restaurant because you are told it is delicious even though you hate how it tastes? I couldn't live like that.

So when they fall short of winning the Cup, he can say "I told you so."

The main difference between a ox and myself? The ox has a tail to swipe away the gnats. I wish I had a tail B-)

Far be it me to get this thread back on track but looking at the standings, it's almost certainly going to be Philly, Bahhston or Mo-ray-all. Hmmm...I have a reason to avoid all of them. I guess I'd pick the least of all evils and go with Philly. Okay so maybe that's siding with evil but their goaltending is weak link and that usually equals a quick exit from the playoffs.

You truly are insecure. But at least you are a Democrat--albeit a very whiny one.

Her question is, to use your analogy, is why do you keep eating at a restaurant where you hate the food? You can still eat elsewhere--by analogy, watch other hockey teams if you like hockey. When you say you could not live like that, it makes no sense, because you are the one who persists in eating what you unequivocally say is shi&&y food. But enough of this.

Can't we all just get along?

Of course...everyone has to express their fandom--and the frustrations that go with it--in their own way. It's just that defeatists get old after a while. Think of the irony. They want a team that will walk through walls to win--which I agree with--but they dribble down their leg at every whiff of adversity. But ces't la vie.
