NowDoYouBelieve Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 LET'S GO BUFFFALLLLOOOOOO! No reason we shouldn't handle Florida today and Toronto tomorrow.
inkman Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 No reason we shouldn't handle Florida today and Toronto tomorrow. You are familiar with this team, right? I expect them to lose at least one of them.
NowDoYouBelieve Posted March 31, 2010 Author Report Posted March 31, 2010 You are familiar with this team, right? I expect them to lose at least one of them. Maybe today, but not tomorrow. Toronto's our bitch like we're Ottawa's bitch.
Calvin Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Maybe today, but not tomorrow. Toronto's our bitch like we're Ottawa's bitch. Now if only the Leaves could own the Sens and the circle would be complete.
Doohicksie Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 I'll miss most or all of the game tonight; I have a softball double header..... ...I wonder why I signed up for spring softbabll at all <_<
nfreeman Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 I read this AM that including this year, Florida will have missed the playoffs for NINE years in a row. Eeeesh. No wonder they have no fan base. Unfortunately, Pitt is playing Tampa, so a Sabres win is unlikely to get them into the #2 slot in the EC, but it's possible. I'd like to see an Ennis-Gerbe track meet tonight. It's too bad Vanek's not playing -- this is the kind of game in which he usually pads his stats.

No wonder they have no fan base. Kinda like the Bills, except we're dumb enough to keep showing up. :bag: Seriously though, is there a more irrelevant team in major professional sports than the Panthers?
Claude_Verret Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Now if only the Leaves could own the Sens and the circle would be complete. My brother in law is a Sens fans and he says that they have a hard time with the Leafs. I don't know what the record is going back to the lockout but the Leafs are 4-2 vs the Sens this year. Edit: I checked Leafs record vs. Sens going back to the lockout.. 05/06 1-5-2 06/07 3-4-1 07/08 4-3-1 08/09 4-1-1 09/10 4-2-0 For the last three seasons anyway the Sens do struggle against the Leafs.
wonderbread Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Kinda like the Bills, except we're dumb enough to keep showing up. :bag: Seriously though, is there a more irrelevant team in major professional sports than the Panthers? LA Clippers Detroit Lions Pittsburgh Pirates
NowDoYouBelieve Posted March 31, 2010 Author Report Posted March 31, 2010 LA Clippers Detroit Lions Pittsburgh Pirates I'd argue those teams are famous for being bad, and thus not completely irrelevant. When you think of comical ineptitude, those are the teams that pop to mind. In the Panthers case, it's just that nobody seems to care.

Most teams have no problem beating Ottawa, and the formula for doing it isn't exactly rocket science either : Shut down Alfredsson and Spezza. Pretty simple really. They even play on the same line most nights, for crying out loud. Unfortunately, we usually let one or both score multiple goals against us.

Take us out of Ottawa's schedule and they're struggling to make the playoffs. So the rest of the league has more than balanced out our struggles against them.
Claude_Verret Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Oh I'm well aware, it's just interesting how we own the Leafs and the Leafs turn around and "own" Ottawa to an extent.
eball Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 A win tonight DOES keep Buffalo in line for the #2 seed, based upon number of games played -- regardless of what the Pens do against Tampa. The Sabres control their own destiny to claim the #2 spot in the conference.
TheMadCap Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 I was thinking about this the other day: Which do you think is most likely to occur first: 1. Sabres break the streak against the Otters 2. Leafs break the streak against the Sabres Unfortunately, I think it is likely to be #2, although I do think that niether will occur this season...

Buffalo isn't blown out in these games, they just need to get the first darn goal..
Calvin Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Number 1... Buffalo isn't blown out in these games, they just need to get the first darn goal.. We haven't really blown out the Leaves much either this season: 3-2(OT), 3-0, 5-2, 3-2(OT), 3-2.. EDIT: Except for the one shootout loss against the Sens, it's been two goal margins in every other loss (albeit most of those were due to empty-netters)
Calvin Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Torres to play tonight, Mancari sent back to Portland. link
rickshaw Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Well if the Sabres want to win the division, they best win tonight. Ottawa has one more game with us so they get 2 points automatically. Must win tonight.
rickshaw Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Oh I'm well aware, it's just interesting how we own the Leafs and the Leafs turn around and "own" Ottawa to an extent. Stupid, isn't it? All I know is we have to beat the Leafs again, and then I go 6 fo 6 in a bet with my boss this year. Winner buys a beer for the loser. I want that 6th beer.
K-9 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Toronto have been playing pretty well as of late. Same record as the Sabres over the last 10. Since the trade deadline, they've been pretty consistent and a much tougher out. Hopefully, Torres will look to impress Burke and score a hat trick for the good guys tomorrow night. But let's get passed Florida first. GO SABRES!!!
SabresRepublic Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 Number 1... Buffalo isn't blown out in these games, they just need to get the first darn goal.. Yeah, that and we don't need Frazer officiating anywhere in the vicinity of the Milky Way Galaxy ever again. Also, Sabres need catered meal preparations during the season (especially in Ottawa.) by culinary specialists who will eat the food first! And, before every game against them they should lodge a formal protest about officiating quality control citing 4 of the 5 games played this season alone as evidence! For the record, most of the Toronto - Buffalo and Montreal - Buffalo games have been a treat (win or lose) for the viewership of these Metropolitan regions; Up tempo aptitude and skill NO chicanery! It is only Ottawa with its political w#h#o#r#e attitude toward the small market insignificant snow capital of the USA chorus that rings in the corporate bowels of the Canadian Capital that fuels otherwise good nature of Canadian fandom. Ottawa, your time is up.

R_Dudley Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 All right time to tame the Panther's into Pussycats. Fla's already out so we should be in w/a win. Keep Oottawaa grinding on the pace so they shoot their wad before the playoffs begin. One(minute)and done she said. Go Sabres.
