ENNIS NEEDS TO STAY (also, Gerbe getting the call in place of Vanek)

Quite honestly, this team is at a throwaway portion of the season. They more than likely have the division locked up, so they might as well get some people some minutes. Other players may be a better option in terms of winning, but they need to see what they have in Gerbe. I have no problem with it if he gets the callup.

As for Ennis, yeah, he's very good with the puck. I wasn't so crazy about him off the puck though. That kind of thing takes some time, but right now he looks promising.

I thought the same thing, looked good with puck for most part. Loose pucks he tended to try to fish them in to himself rather than getting dirty and plowing right into the area of the puck. I don't think thats fear, its the natural way a playmaker is, they try to weed the puck out of congested areas for themselves.

That seems to be a real problem with the Sabres, they don't fight hard for loose pucks, Ottawa absolutely owned them and if other teams watch those films going into playoffs, they'll know how easy it is to bully Buffalo off the puck.

back to Ennis, yes, he looked like he was thinking more than reacting without the puck, and I'm wondering about his speed. I didn't see any signs of kick-###### speed that comes with so many smaller NHLers.

Did you miss how well he played in Philadelphia the day after Thanksgiving?

I think we all did. It was November 14th in Philly. I was impressed in November and I was impressed at the game Saturday. Tonight will be a good test against Boston and I assume Rask. We've managed only 1 or 2 goals each game against the Bruins this year, so if Ennis is going to be the difference maker, tonight would be a good litmus test to prove his staying power.

2d place (conference) means no more to me than 3d does, so fine.

You'll regret saying that during game 7 of Sabres vs NJ/Pit. Maybe it won't come down to that, but I would rather not take the chance.

We need Ennis in the playoffs, he very well could be that missing piece to the puzzle. The kids crafty as I don't know what, I really like this guy

Agreed. Although, it's hard to say that he can do this during the playoffs considering that he has only seen 2 NHL games to this point. He was excellent in both though, so I would love to see him stay a few more games to see if he can keep it up.

Only problem here is that Ennis is yet to take a faceoff this year, Mancari has lost all three he did, and Kennedy is only a 33.9%

LOL

If we can add needed talent to this lineup I'm willing to lose a few faceoffs.
