SwampD Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Just relax. Go here and have a drink. At least we get playoff hockey to watch.
Xray Posted March 27, 2010 Author Report Posted March 27, 2010 I won't be testing that link. I don't think I should trust your surfing habits.
carpandean Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 On the ice for all 4 Ottawa goals. So was Myers. Note: since this was the only fact that you presented, I figured I'd point out that it also applies to Tyler. Plus, I don't think Myers is nearly as good on faceoffs. OK, that last one was just for fun. You should at least give Goose credit for being on the ice for one of the two Sabres' goals, too.

I wouldn't know, hopefully he crawled back into whatever hole he crawled out of. He's probably at his imaginary bar talking to his imaginary bartender friend "Tommy". I think he watched too many reruns of Cheers for his own good.

ETC is a decent chap, no reason to beat him up over Ottawa's domination of the Sabres.

I'm not making excuses for the way Myers played. Give Gooser credit for the goal, that doesn't really address the problem. And they can hand him a 3rd star for the game if they want and it won't disguise anything on the ice.
deluca67 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I have been saying "what happened to the old Paul Gaustad" for a long time now. He is a shell of the player that first came up. I have to blame Lindy Ruff for the Paul Gaustad the Sabres have now. He is nowhere near the physical presence he was when he first came up. I look at the Sabres now and wonder just how long it will take for Lindy to remove the toughness from Kaleta's game.

It's what I like to call "Lindy's pussification process". Rule #1...Don't hit anyone because you take yourself out of position. Rule #2...Don't be physical in any way because you will get a penalty. This includes if anyone runs your goalie or cheap shots your teammates.
Lethbridge Broncos Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 staying out of the penalty box is paramount. it is very hard to score 5 v 5 goals in this era. special teams determine most games. so, the aggressive guys have to play safe. a physical presence can be subtle and you need to pick your spots. gaustad lives in front of the net. he camps out there all game long. that aint easy. he creates ice room for guys on his line and on the next lines by softening up defenses with good puck ragging and cycling. His value is much. and his hitting is greaat - he crushes guys all game long. lastly, he will police and fight any customer. he is the teams best fighter (rivet a close 2nd).
inkman Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 a physical presence can be subtle... Not in my book. Kaleta is a physical presence because he's the opposite of subtle. I like Gaustad, unlike some other posters. He's good at the role asked of him. I just wished he would lay out a few more guys and throw a few more punches. That's it.
