Hey, P A, if the player gets hauled down from behind while there is an empty net, is that an automatic goal? Cause that last one went in about 2 seconds after the horn.

Figured I would ask, since you are our rule book guru.

Yes.

Automatic goal is called when a guy is hauled down with an MT net.

Gotta say this.

Elliott is lucky, so lucky on Vanek's post shot.

If I'm Ottawa I watch the standings and try oh so hard to play Buffalo in the first round.

I will not be sad to see Kerry Fraser retire. He has been nothing but a menace to the Sabres over the years. This year against Vancouver and again tonight. Has anyone noticed that whoever is paired with Fraser basically sits back and lets him "have" the game because he's on his fairwell tour?

Ottawa now has won an astonishing 26 games out of the past 36 games against us. We have a measly 16 points out of a possible 72 against Ottawa dating back to the lockout season. Seasons in which we won the President's Trophy. I'm astounded. And I'm mad as ######.

I know I'm repeating myself, but a 1st-round matchup with these guys is exactly what's needed for this team to evolve.

I understand what you are saying...I just don't think I could take 4-7 more games with this team. I was an angry ###### today at work, just in anticipation of the inevitable crap that this game brings.

Lindy Ruff should vehemently protest this game despite the fact that it is run by an old boys' network accountable to no one and he will probably get the same short shrift! Nevertheless! TSN agrees and we can create momentum to rid the league of this privileged and abusive element!

We definitely lost this game due to the lack of transparent officiating.

Despite the parasites, Sabres played valiantly and kudos to them for grinding it out!!!

Nice faceoff there Gooser!

On the ice for all 4 goals.

Grand funk Railroad

I'm your captain yeah yeah yeah

This made me laugh. You actually could add a lot to this board if you didn't feel the need to belittle everyone. But I guess I'll have to be angry at your parents for that.

I'm going to disagree just a bit, but there were also a few times that we could have been called for holding, tripping, diving, but the whistle was kept in the pocket. As bad as the missed calls on Ottawa were, they could have been on the PP a lot more as well.

I hate the Refs as much as the next guy, even in this game. They are not why we lost.

I'm telling ya folks, Kerry Fraser is a menace. I'll be soooo glad when he's gone.

Drew Stafford, give up hockey. Please, just go away. And this comes from someone who thought you'd be a stud in this league. Your effort is so sad to go along with your skillset. It's sickening actually. Ellis. The guy has limited skill yet every time on the ice he works harder than anyone. I'm mad right now.

And, we did get a power play at the end of the game. Didn't matter, even with Miller pulled.

Pominville - "Maybe we gave them too much respect."

WTF? If you gave them any respect, it would be too much. This makes me sick. The guys that have been on this team for the past 4-5 years should be absolutely ###### disgusted after this game. They should live and breathe to destroy this team.

Based on posts on here, i highly doubt many people believe in the pyschology of this, rather they think the Sabres suck, but this is simply in the Sabres head now. Buffalo is a better team that OTT right now. Their record against every other team in the leaugue, and OTT, proves it, but we have some serious psychological goals to overcome.

Anyone in sales can truly appreciate were I am coming from. It seems as thought we played a pretty tough game tonight, but there is still a mental block to overcome this team.

HEre is hoping we don't meet them in playoffs...

Agreed. And I know how angry you were in anticipation, but that's why we have to play them in the playoffs. Honestly, I think it's the only way to shake up this team.

I'd say we play a pretty good 3rd. If the Sabres matched Ottawa's intensity from the beginning they would have won. They waited until the 3rd.

When it was 2 - 1 Montador was high sticked and the TSN crew thought he for sure needed

sutures to stop the bleeding. That should have been a 4 minute penalty. Instead 30 or so seconds later penalty against Buffalo and they score! That was the turning point in the game and had nothing to do with which team was the better.

Frazier made the call! He was playing GOD! He violated the 1st Commandment. Now, infamy awaits him and his ilk!

I will agree with you that IF they are able to beat Ottawa in the playoffs, this team will be able to accomplish anything. In a lot of ways, this is our "Russia" before the "Finland"

I do admire the way you defend the team sometimes, but as you've mentioned before...great teams find ways to win. There are missed calls every night in the NHL (and some of them, some nights, should be on us), and truly great teams overcome them and don't blame the refs.

When the Board of Governors (Wizards of OZ - old boys' network) get together with the officials to discuss officiating quality control Frazer and a few other privileged ones remind them of their contractual obligations to maintain the status quo! These guys are so corrupt the faithful can't tell the difference!

Frazer is revered in Canada like he was a founding father or something!

Rule 26 – Awarded Goals

26.1 Awarded Goal – A goal will be awarded to the attacking team when

the opposing team has taken their goalkeeper off the ice and an

attacking player has possession and control of the puck in the neutral

or attacking zone, without a defending player between himself and the

opposing goal, and he is prevented from scoring as a result of an

infraction committed by the defending team (see 26.3 Infractions –

When Goalkeeper is Off the Ice, below).

Definitely! Poor officiating will change the character and outcome of a game. We were down 2 -1 and we would have pulled it out. But missing an obvious call like that changed the momentum right there else we would have blown them out with a 4 minute power play! TSN said same!

Ottawa plays like the officiating is on their side!

Very true...if they could find it in them to beat Ottawa in a 7-game series, then I would see flashes of '05-'06.

SR...you really make me smile. I don't agree with you in the slightest on this one, but your unending optimism regarding this team is admirable. If the world was about to end, I would want to hang out with you until it happened.
