Hawerchuk Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 What happened to him? Did we not give him a QO? I thought he had some potential and was not afraid to mix it up when the hitting got tough. I would say he's better than Fitzpatrick, right? If he is gone, why didn't management want him to stay? :(

Guest shrader Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Brown is an unrestricted free agent. The Sabres never had the option of making him a qualifying offer.
ricogarion Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 The Sabres declined his option choosing to let him become a Free Agent,Poor skating ability doomed him.
Guest Browner Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 The Sabres declined his option choosing to let him become a Free Agent,Poor skating ability doomed him. Brown was earning less than the league average last year. That's why he's a UFA
Guest shrader Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 The Sabres did not have an option for Brown this year. To add on to what Browner said, he was under the league average and since the lockout year counted as a year of service, he reached the minimum number of years for unrestricted free agency.
Hawerchuk Posted August 8, 2005 Author Report Posted August 8, 2005 Bummer. So did any team pick him up yet?
ricogarion Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 I liked his character and desire to give all he had with limited tools. He could and should latch on somewhere.
