deluca67 Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Non-playoff team? You do realize that they've been on a pretty good role lately, right? They would probably be in first place if Markov never got hurt. You're right. I did look at the standings this morning as well. For some reason I had in my mind they were ninth. They did go on a little run to jump up into the standings. They did drop their third straight division game last night. It is amazing they are in 6th place while being 2 games under .500. The Bruins are in 8th and are 6 games under .500. The East is indeed week this year.
shrader Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I know when I'm in a grumpy mood or if I don't care for the person talking, I don't pick up sarcasm very well, if at all. I knew Harry was joking, so I actually chuckled at it. I would have thought Rick & Rayzor wouldn't have taken it seriously, so maybe they don't like Harry anymore. They were all on edge thanks to awesome the f-bomb.
deluca67 Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Yeah, but I'd argue it's their job to approach the results with sobered reality. If they were always content with grabbing 2 points, complacency would set in. As fans, we have the luxury of giddily enjoying the "miracle comeback" variety of win. As professionals, they may be obligated to feel like they stole one. I agree 100% with what you said here. I like to keep a bigger picture view for myself. The effort and passing over the first 57 minutes is a great concern this late in the season. I am hoping to see the Sabres develop a workman like attitude over the final ten games. This show up when they want to needs to stop.
BuffalOhio Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I was pissed off for most of that game. I was happy when it was over because they won, but for most of that game I was yelling at the TV like I was watching a Bills game. Get it together boys, and don't rest on your laurels.

I was excited when we pulled it out, but, like many around here I wasn't very happy with the effort. Physical play was definitely lacking. I even saw Kaleta pull up at one point where he ususally nails a guy.
inkman Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 They were all on edge thanks to awesome the f-bomb. Who was Kaleta calling a "###### geek"? Do the kids still use words like "geek"?
inkman Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 When I was a kid, I always thought "Dog eat dog world" was "Doggy dog world". It is in the LBC!
Stoner Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I agree the Sabres put in a poor effort for the bulk of the contest and if they bring this game to the playoffs they will exit in short order. BUT....Miller a bit off his game? WTF? If by some miracle the Sabres manage to hoist the cup one day, after I'm done with the celebration for the ages I'm going to be interested to come here to find out how you spin it into a negative. Unbelievable. Just my opinion. You're free to ignore it. Here's the thing. Ironically, maybe it's PA who has totally bought into Miller, while others who excessively defend him have not. His game has reached a level where I don't tolerate lots of bad rebounds, swims around the crease like the bad old days and misplays of the puck (again) behind the net -- I know he's better than that, while you pat him on the head like a parent telling his kid that his stick figure is "awesome" while secretly suspecting he's been eating the crayons. Anyway, at the appointed hour, it will be my pleasure to fulfill your darkest vision of me.

I'm just looking at the results, despite whatever minor miscues or flaws you might want to dissect out of last nights contest, the fact is Ryan Miller was the Buffalo Sabre that was least off his game. I just find it interesting you chose to single him out first.

I just find it interesting you chose to single him out first. He's the goalie. He's a Vezina and maybe Hart candidate. He's the key. I think it's fair that he gets most of fans' attention. I don't expect as much out of others -- what's the point of saying Derek Roy was off his game? I said Miller was terrific. I would agree with others he's the only reason they had a chance to win that game. I just thought he was off a bit. A bit!
spndnchz Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Who was Kaleta calling a "###### geek"? Do the kids still use words like "geek"? He was yelling at McGuire from TSN. F-in-goof-ball threw a puck that came between the benches to a bunch of Hab fans and Kaleta got pissed. See 1:50 mark. Guys a tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i5zXLZHGI4

eball Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Sometimes, I really do think the name of this forum should be "The Axe Grind."
Doohicksie Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Interesting events right after the Hab high-sticked Kennedy with 3+ minutes left. Miller started waving at the bench, like "hellllooo???!!!" Banging his stick on the ice. Ruff looked at Miller, put up one finger, then did the corny two fingers to the eye, "watch me" pantomime. Miller looked back, apparently at Lalime, and did his best WTF wave. What occurred to me at the time was that the producer picked up on the exchange and showed both Miller and the bench at the right times. Awesome camera selection. They could just as easily showed the players milling around the ice in the Montreal zone. They were all on edge thanks to awesome the f-bomb. I heard that too. I couldn't tell who it was though, but he seemed to be yelling at McGuire. I was pissed off for most of that game. I was happy when it was over because they won, but for most of that game I was yelling at the TV like I was watching a Bills game. Get it together boys, and don't rest on your laurels. This. ^ Me too. Who was Kaleta calling a "###### geek"? Do the kids still use words like "geek"? Oh, that was Kaleta?

I even saw Kaleta pull up at one point where he ususally nails a guy. I am a Sabres fan and do enjoy seeing them win but it's a team fan message board and I am allowed to express my opinion so;.... I see things a little differently than the "be happy it's a win mentality". Maybe it's because I played a little bit (albeit mostly just pick up hockey ) but it has always been a full effort, physical game for me. When I don't see checks being finished, creases cleared, standing up for each other I am disappointed in them because thats my opinion of good hockey. Second being a fan and following them since the seventies is hard seeing them make the playoffs so many times in so many years (maybe at least 24 out of their 27 playoff appearences) with only 2 finals appearances(75,99) and 0 cups to show. That makes for some serious always the bridemaid never the bride frustration. So go ahead and ignore or excuse my post now if you do not agree but I bought into their stated goal, "to win the cup", so when I see play that in my estimation will not lead them to that goal I will sometimes vent and sound negative. He11 yeah it will be nice to be in the playoffs again and not be reduced to following another hockey team for the SC but just making the playoffs just does not cut it for me as much anymore as maybe some of you newer fans that may have another 40 years of waiting to see them to win it all. Oh by the way PA good observation, I agree our best player and hope of this current team actually winning a cup was a bit off last night. I also think it is okay to expect your best to be their best, that's when elite happens. Go Sabres and please do not let these Sens take liberties tomorrow or I may sound negative :pirate:

WGR said Kaleta was yelling at Dominic Moore. Kaleta was asked about what happened after the game and said.... "We aren't teammates any more are we."

inkman Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 See 1:50 mark. Guys a tool. Yikes! Are you sure? WGR said Kaleta was yelling at Dominic Moore. Kaleta was asked about what happened after the game and said.... "We aren't teammates any more are we." That makes a little more sense. I'd have to wonder what Patty was on if he was raging at the announcer guy.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 And the truth, to me anyway, is that despite some terrific saves, Miller looked off his game a bit.
Xray Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Who was Kaleta calling a "###### geek"? Do the kids still use words like "geek"? No they use the word troll. If you insist on coming here, say something hockey-related or keep quiet. Leave your "thoughts" about other posters out of it.

Do you know what they term "putting on airs" means? People that block other posters don't go to the bother of annuncing it to them, what they're really doing is whining, they aren't impressing anyone, and only complete fools believe that they're actually blocking anything.
