chileanseabass Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=157671&hubname=nhl Edmonton no longer needs Marty. Roloson goes to Edmonton for a #1 pick and a conditional 3rd rounder (if he resigns).
hopeleslyobvious Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Oh well. I wondered when the first move was going to happen. I wonder if earlier today was just the calm before the storm.
chileanseabass Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 a bunch of guys were placed on waviers earlier today, but that's the first trade
PTS Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 WOW ... Dwayne Roloson for a first round pick plus a conditional pick! Wow, lets all thank Edmonton for driving up Biron's price.
chileanseabass Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 WOW ... Dwayne Roloson for a first round pick plus a conditional pick! Wow, lets all thank Edmonton for driving up Biron's price. I think that's way too much for a rental player, especially Roloson, unless their sure he'll resign. You're right... this definetly does drive up Marty's value though.

Draft picks suck, we need a dman now.
Goodfella25 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 HAHAH what a dumb move for Edmonton. Well, at least its dumb how much they gave up....a 1st rounder for a 36-year-old! As someone else said, thanks for driving up the price for one of our goalies

As someone else said, thanks for driving up the price for one of our goalies Does it drive the price up because Rollie is now worth a 1st (and 3rd if he re-signs) and the market has been set high or does it drive the price down because there is now 1 less buyer? My guess is that it drives the price down, but we'll find out in the next 26 or so hours.
Toddkaz Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Gees, I would take a first and a third for Marty anyday!!!!! You think no way but then you could get pretty much any dman you want(with in reason) with a first round pick

I want a person in return.
shrader Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Am I the only one who thinks a draft pick isn't all that great of a pick up for a starting Goalie? I want a person in return. It depends on the team. Minnesota is basically done, so the pick has more value to them. The Sabres need to get a player that can play now in return for Marty since we're contending.

Taro T Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Am I the only one who thinks a draft pick isn't all that great of a pick up for a starting Goalie? I want a person in return. Dwayne will be 37 when next season begins and has not played particularily well in the new NHL. He only had 2 starts since the end of January, he wasn't Minny's starting goalie. I think that was a good trade for Minnesota. Darcy most likely agrees with you and that is probably why Marty still has a shatanic goat on his sweater instead of an oil drop.
chileanseabass Posted March 8, 2006 Author Report Posted March 8, 2006 the wild have Fernandez and probably a decent backup in the minors so they can afford to not get anything in return for the G position. I don't know who they've got in the system, but two backups were placed on waviers today: Phil Sauve of Phoenix and Mike Morrison of Edmonton.
X. Benedict Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I think Edmonton paid too much. I'm not surprised they aquired him, but potentially a 1rst and 3rd rounder is a steep price.
Corp000085 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 hey, i pinned this topic and changed the title to a generic trade thread... This way we can consolidate trade news.
hopeleslyobvious Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 hey, i pinned this topic and changed the title to a generic trade thread... This way we can consolidate trade news. Good idea! Things might get a little cluttered tomorrow. Although I kind of expected to see some more activity after the first trade.
Larry Playfair Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 I read an article on TSN that says edmonton believes they can still compete and advance in the playoffs, so they didnt want to unload anyone. So this trade works perfectly for them. Who else needs a goalie?
apuszczalowski Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Rolosons record 6-17 this season So for him, a first round pick is a steal for the wild Edmonton had their chance at quality but decided to go cheap instead, to bad for them.
shrader Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Who else needs a goalie? LA, Vancouver, Ottawa and Colorado could all be in the market for a goalie.
Saber61 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 could this be the longest thread in TSR history come tommrow afternoon :D
gregkash Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 as mentioned in another thread, if we're in the running for Bertuzzi, I think that we'll make another trade to go with it where we give off a forward for either a pick or a defensman.. Trading for another forward is just.. too many forwards.. Especially when Connolly comes back.
Toddkaz Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Luke Richardson to the TML for a 5th round pick Ville Nieminen to the san Jose sharks both on sportsnet.ca credible i think
