nobody Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Over at the TSN blog from Jay Onrait's 2010 TradeCentre Blog: Someone posted a silly trade about TSN reporters then Jay Onrait replies: "Whew! Well Eklund if you're reporting it I guess it's not true! Thanks for putting my mind at ease Eklund!"
spndnchz Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Tampa Bay trade Halpern to LA Kings for Ted Purcell and a third round pick they got from Florida. Canucks trade M.Schneider to Coyotes for prolly a pick.
Barnabov Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 To re-use a classic line from another Member's post during a past trade deadline: "Time to pinch it off Darcy & get to the phone!" Apologies for not remembering who gave that sage advice.
ThePebble19 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Caps get Eric Belanger from the Wild for TBD... Per TSN.
shrader Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Man, anyone in the NHL. DO SOMETHING. Fixed your post.
spndnchz Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Caps get Eric Belanger from the Wild for TBD... Per TSN. TBD: a second round pick.
G-Daddy Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 To re-use a classic line from another Member's post during a past trade deadline: "Time to pinch it off Darcy & get to the phone!" Apologies for not remembering who gave that sage advice. What? He can't use his cell phone while in the stall??? C'Mon DR and OSP, let's get this team some help....they've been reeling for six weeks now.
Barnabov Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I'm preparing myself to hear the: "We like the team's current chemistry" or "The asking price was too steep today" or some such similar excuses. Hope I'll be proved wrong in the next hour ten though.
Buffalo Wings Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Why do we even have a GM? Maybe we should just take a page from the Bills and go without... save the salary... the net outcome will be the same. Apparently, we're asking too much of this "GM". I mean, what's the point of trying to improve your team that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today.
nobody Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Caps get Eric Belanger from the Wild for TBD... Per TSN. For 2nd round pick. Think that covers every playoff team except Sabres.
zow2 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Caps are going for it, as are most other contenders. Sabres are content with Ryan Miller trying to pitch a shutout every game. Sheesh!
MDFan Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Apparently, we're asking too much of this "GM". I mean, what's the point of trying to improve your team that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today. Apprently there are no trades available that meet Darcy's rigourous standards of building for the future. I sure hope he hangs onto that 2nd round pick so we can get a player with 25% chance of contributing 5 years from now. Thank's Darcy.
gregkash Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 god this is annoying. the people around is in the standings are getting better, little piece by little piece and we're just standing there.
spndnchz Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Wow. 270 users online at once? SDS, you better have this backed up, she's gonna explode!!!!:o
Iron Crotch Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 C'mon Darcy. No one bats 1.000, but you won't even have an average if you don't step up to the plate! (I apologize beforehand for the lame sports analogy :) )
Buffalo Wings Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 C'mon Darcy. No one bats 1.000, but you won't even have an average if you don't step up to the plate! (I apologize beforehand for the lame sports analogy :) ) He's too afraid of striking out once he gets there.
Mbossy Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 The Sabres. The only team in the whole freakin' NHL that hasn't made a trade this year. edit: I mean 2010.
MDFan Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 The Sabres. The only team in the whole freakin' NHL that hasn't made a trade this year. They did trade Paille for a 4th earlier this year. Blockbuster.
Steve Phillips Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 C'mon Darcy. No one bats 1.000, but you won't even have an average if you don't step up to the plate! (I apologize beforehand for the lame sports analogy :) ) Darcy would rather strike out.......looking....
Mbossy Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Curtis McElhinney traded to Ducks Toskala to Flames
nobody Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Curtis McElhinney to Anaheim Vesa Toskala to Calgary.
LabattBlue Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Caps get Eric Belanger from the Wild for TBD... Per TSN. Now I am pissed. Belanger is exactly what the Sabres need in the bottom 6.
Steve Phillips Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 3 regulation wins in the last 18 games = "GOOD ENOUGH" for Darcy!
theend Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Some people want Darcy to dump our underachievers...Some want to bolster our skaters for a playoff run, even if it means rentals... I think Darcy's torn, and that's why he's not doing anything. When we were playing well, I'm sure he thought about rentals...then we go into a tailspin, and he's caught in this mindgame of whether to 'quit' now and give up on all these players (i.e., trade Roy, Stafford, Mac, etc.), or to mortgage the future and dump prospects/picks (Ennis, Gerbe, etc.) to give this team a few missing veteran rental pieces which would propel them into the playoffs with a lot stronger play. It's not an easy decision - is this about NOW or the FUTURE? ...that said, he's paid good money to run this organization...he should have made his mind up by today.
