What is Entourage?

Given the tone of your early posts....I figured you were a fan as well.

Basically......it's a series on HBO about a group of twentysomething metrosexuals that overcompensate for their obvious flamer tendencies by overpursuing hot females, driving Napoleanic syndrome cars, eating at trendy places, and doing everything together 24/7 while living off the salary of a movie star.

Think....Roy, Connolly, McArthur and Kaleta traveling on Chippewa in a Hummer limo, then pictures of one grabbing the other's crotch circulating all over the internet the next day.

I'd like to thank the language filter for allowing "crotch" to enter the dialogue.

Actually...I think that is the name of one of the characters in Entourage.

Ronan hates summertime -- LQ loves corn on the cob.

The show can be funny.......the problem is when someone takes it as an example to live by and not the hyperbolised joke it is.

Well I'm pleased to report Ryan Miller had Caddyshack in his basket...

Goaltending is the great equalizer in the NHL. If the Sabres can go out and get a decent backup that can allow Miller to rest and accumulate some points it only bolsters the Sabres chances. Back up goalie is not my top priority. Breaking up the brat pack and infusing some talent with grit (and yes Darcy those players do exist) should be the #1 priority. They need to change the makeup of the core significantly. If they can somehow get that done before Wednesday? With the level Miller is playing? Maybe add a defensman for the top four? Than getting to the finals is a real possibility. I do think think if Miller plays at the level he was earlier in the year he can steal a series or two. If the Sabres can toughen up in the forward ranks and get a solid defenseman maybe Miller won't have to steal a series, especially early.

I can tell you great certainty what will prevent the Sabres from making a playoff run this year. Standing pat while waiting for your core group to get better, having a defense that includes Lydman, Montador and Rivet in the top six and having one of the softest teams in the NHL.

The things you write make little sense--yet you write them over and over and over and over again. We get the Sabres sucks, yet you suggest they are tantalizingly close to winning it all. How can that be as a matter of logic?

Then let us examine you individual diatribes. Let's start with Miller. The Sabres are about to waste his career year, so we need to trade most of the team before the trading deadline. Oh, and Miller is already done because he is tired, so we need say--Roberto Luongo as a backup-- a quality backup, so Miller can get rest. Come on.

First, Miller is entering his prime as goalie(and that "idiot" Regier had the stupidity to lock him up long term). There is no reason to suspect Miller will not be good for years given his age. This "gotta act now or we blow Miller's one great season" is just silly. There is no need for panic.

And as to backups, Lalime is a backup for a reason--he is not as good as first line goalies. Do you think there are vastly superior backup goalies available at reasonable prices? You know the answer is no, yet you persist on suggesting vast improvements are out there over Lalime.

Then you want to trade a good chunk of the forward core, and remake the defense at the trade deadline. Think about what you are saying, and how little sense it makes on multiple levels. First, the Sabres are one point out of first with 3 games in hand. Who in their right mind would remake an entire team midyear in that position? Second, where do you find trade partners to make such major deals under time pressure--they almost never happen? Third, if the Sabres players suck as bad as you suggest, and are so soft, how do you expect to get boatloads of better quality players in return. Suddenly Regier is so shrewd he will trade garbage for gold? Everyone else is stupid?

It's hard to take your insufferable whining, especially when it is so illogical. If the team has as many issues as you suggest, there is no way to fix them all in 3 days.

Glad you read my posts, it's just unfortunate you don't understand them. I will try to help since I am in a giving mood today. I will also type slow so you can keep up.

I am pretty sure most will agree that the USA doesn't come close to the silver medal without Ryan Miller. It's further proof that with great goaltending anything is possible in hockey. Miller is riding one hell of a wave right now. Sometimes that wave comes crashing down. I'm sure fans in Carolina and Boston thought Ward and Thomas would always play at elite levels. It doesn't work that way. The Sabres can, and probably will, do nothing and play the hand they have now. Ride the Miller wave as far as it takes them. They can gamble that Miller not only will be at the level he is now he will also remain healthy in the years to come. The Sabres could also do what I suggest. Take a run at the Cup with the hottest goaltender in the NHL. Breaking into that core group and moving a couple out. I'm not sure what country you are from and unit of measure you use, here in the United States moving 2 out of 12 forwards is not a "good chunk." Also, is adding a top for defensemen "remaking" the defense or improving it? I will assume English is not your first language and that is why you are overstating my points by using words like "boatload" or using "Roberto Luongo" as a example of improving the Sabres backup goalie situation.

When it comes to the backup. As I have stated previously, I will repeat for you so you can understand, backup goaltending is not my primary concern it is a issue and needs to be addressed. Again you overstated that I said "Miller is already done because he is tired" which not something I said. I will chalk that up to your issues with the language. Miller will not only be carrying a heavy load of games he also faces a great number of shots. That is going to wear on the slight Ryan Miller. How does wanting the Sabres to acquire, as they did last trade deadline, a improvement over Lalime that Ruff would feel comfortable starting become illogical?

My emotions are running high now, so I will try to hold them in check. Language filter is working I hope. Cant you just re-explain your point to someone without putting the poster down. Are you Gods gift to Sabrespace?? Usually I dismiss your bull, and granted you have expressed good points before, but sometimes, your Mike Schoop attitude makes me sick!!!

Apparently you think you improve your arguments by repeating them. It does not help. Everyone got your ideas long ago. They are inconsistent and nonsensical in large part, and you should try something new. But I admit, your posts do have a traffic accident kind of fascination to them-- like what the f&^k were they thinking.

Responding to two newbie trolls in the same day? I must be tired. You might want to take a second and read the post I responded to before you post garbage like this. I think this will be the extent of my charity for this evening.

No I never heard of it but you seem to have an intimate knowledge of these shows about homos.

Sounds like a hobby of yours.

Just curious, if you were GM for a day...and that day was on the trade deadline...What would you give up to get a backup goalie, and furthermore, who would you go after.

I am not trying to be sarcastic in any way, I just want to see where you are at in your thoughts.

I would like to go after a veteran goalie in the final year of his contract. Biron is a obvious choice. Manny Legacy may be available. I would like a Chris Osgood but I really don't want his second year left on the contract. Mathieu Garon maybe be a good fit even with the second year at $1.2 mil. Josh Harding seems like he fits into the backup role well. Being 25 he maybe a bit more costly. He would be more of a long term solution at backup. For short term I would target Legacy or Osgood. I would toss maybe a Gerbe out there for a Harding or a draft pick for either of the vets.

Fair enough. I think Garon and Legace would both be upgrades over Lalime, and obviously, Osgood would be great, although that 2nd year is a killer.

I am just nervous about Biron. I liked him as much as everyone else while he was here, but he was downright pathetic this year. I know it's the Islanders, and that doesn't help much, but still...his stats are almost identical to Lalime's.

I am right with you on the price though, I wouldn't give up anything more than a draft pick to get the backup 'tender.
