korab rules Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 Is this score confirmed? That is astounding! A goal every 45 seconds? Game must have taken five hours to play. I confirmed it myself, but it happened in 2008.
Mbossy Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 I couldn't get it to show channels other than NBC, but I found this list of Mens Hockey games with channels through next Sun the 21st. And the NHL All Access Vancouver site with vid, pics, follow your guy stuff.

Two or less Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 anyone know of a twitter reporter or otherwise with hockey reports from vanc? USA has their first practice this morning and i'm curious to see if Miller gets the bulk of the time on ice.. NHL reporters in Vancouver (the best ones i know of) Shawn Roarke... http://twitter.com/sroarke_nhl Kevin Allen.... http://twitter.com/kausatoday Bucky Gleason... http://twitter.com/bgleasonTBN Craig Custance.... http://twitter.com/CraigCustance John Wowrow.... http://twitter.com/john_wawrow (covers more then hockey) Kevin Dupont... http://twitter.com/GlobeKPD
Eleven Posted February 15, 2010 Report Posted February 15, 2010 I confirmed it myself, but it happened in 2008. Right. Qualifying takes place way in advance. Yesterday, USA 12, China 1. I'm not the guy who thinks women's hockey sucks or that women shouldn't play the game or anything like that at all. But if it can't be more competitive than this, maybe it should not be an Olympic sport. I think they should give it one more chance in 2014, and if it's still as lopsided, they should consider that maybe this sport hasn't reached its time yet. I don't want to see 12-1 scores in international competitions, especially amateur international competitions. (Sabres 12, Flyers 1? All for it.)

Two or less Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Miller having issues with the IOC about his mask.... from Bucky Gleason's twitter- IOC is likely making Miller paint his mask. It sounds like beef is over merchandizing rights. Gimme a break. Link- http://twitter.com/bgleasonTBN Looks like Miller may have to wear a all-white mask now...
Bmwolf21 Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 Good grief. The IOC is taking offense not only with the "Miller Time" slogan on the back, but with the "Matt Man" tagline he uses to honor his late cousin: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/15/AR2010021503594.html Ryan Miller knows all about rules barring unapproved corporate sponsorships at the Olympics. He also isn't going to be pushed around. The U.S. goalie, a newcomer to the Olympics, went ahead and had "Miller Time" painted on the mask he designed for the Vancouver Games. "Just having fun," Miller said with a wink before practice Monday. The International Olympic Committee doesn't see it that way. Miller said he's been informed the tag line needs to be covered or removed because it's a slogan for a beer maker. Miller shrugs that one off, but he is upset that officials are also taking issue with the words "Matt Man" as part of the design. That's not a slogan but a tribute to Miller's cousin, Matt Schoals, who died of cancer in 2007. "My aunt and uncle and my family, it's important to them, it's important to me," said Miller, who has "Matt Man" on his Buffalo Sabres mask. "I'm going to stand up for that." FWIW, IOC is not saying ditch the whole thing - they just want the taglines covered up. BTW, great reporting by John Wawrow.
cdexchange Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 What possible beef could they have with "Matt Man"?
gregkash Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 I just want it to be 3pm already so I can see team USA in action!
nfreeman Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Right. Qualifying takes place way in advance. Yesterday, USA 12, China 1. I don't disagree with this, but I will say that I watched about half of the Canada-Switzerland women's game yesterday and I found it pretty entertaining. It wasn't hockey like we're used to seeing, but it was fast and skilled and very watchable. Imagine a game played by a bunch of Nathan Gerbes with no hitting. Good passing, good stickhandling, good skating -- it was entertaining. It gave me a little bit of a hockey fix until the men's games start, anyway.
cdexchange Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Sabres.com has put up a nice page to track all the Sabres olympians in one place. It has the schedule showing exactly when each one will be playing, as well as the results and stats. Pretty cool  http://sabres.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=59683
shrader Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 I've seen Miller's Olympic mask plenty of times, but I didn't notice until now that the bulldog on the back is in uncle Sam gear. That's a nice little touch. edit: And it's strange that the IOC wants him to remove that stuff, yet all the jerseys will have those Nike swooshes on them. Nice work.

It might not be rough and tumble, but it's still fun to watch if you appreciate skilled hockey. The shots might not be quite as hard, and the players being smaller makes for a different on ice dynamic, but it's good hockey. Plus sometimes they do fight (we had one on Friday during an RIT Women's game against Cortland). Plus the women I play with are the most talented players on the ice typically, which is always fun. I love hockey.

Two or less Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Anyone interested in watching the game in the Rochester area, i'll be at shooters on Fairport Road if anyone wants to have a few beers.
gregkash Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 can we get a gameday thread for USA vs Switzerland and keep this one to a general Olympics hockey thread?
NowDoYouBelieve Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 What could the IOC possibly see wrong with "Matt Man"? Making Miller cover it up is not only pointless, but douchey too. I don't get it.
gregkash Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Miller is starting. Let's go USA!!!
CallawaySabres Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 where can I watch this on-line?

Screamin'Weasel Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 where can I watch this on-line? I am also looking for a link to online viewing...atdhe.net doesn't have anything listed for it that I can see.
