Sabres All-Time Stats

If you get a chance, take a look at the sabres all time stats on their website (sabres.com) some really interesting finds there.

Some things I found interesting for example:

Craig Ramsay leads all time plus minus with a staggering +328, he barely has it though over Bill Hajt +321. What current Sabre leads all time in +/- (bet you won't see this one coming..) It's Jochen Hecht in 21st place at +47. One ahead of him in 20th is Mike Wilson with +49 in three years.

Rob Ray leads Mike Foligno in Penalty Minutes by 1,739. 6th on that list? Lindy Ruff (1,126)

There once was a player named Morris Titanic (1st round pick, 19 games played, -3, no goals, no assists, no penalty minutes, 8 shots)

I think it's time he was labeled a bust.

Miroslav Satan is 10th all time on the Sabres with 456 points.

In four years Thomas Vanek is already 6th all time in Power Play Goals, and with 5 more he can move up to fourth.

Gilbert Perreault had 8 short handed goals, the same as Christian Ruuttu, Giles Hamel, Robert Sweeney and Dave Hannan. Perreault only played 30 less games then those 4 combined. So was he just not an offensive threat on the PK or did he not get much PK time? (I was alive for only 1 year of his career and let's be honest, you don't remember much when you're 8 months old).

Danny Briere leads in Overtime Goals with 5. Perreault isn't in the top 30.

Thomas Vanek has 1,026 shots on goal, which is 1/3 of Perreault's 3,079.

I feel safe in saying that Vanek is 1/3 the player Perreault was.

For most of Perreault's career, there was no OT in regular season games.

...He was so large even Sausage would panic

He'd often whip it out

Leaving zero doubt

Why Roysie's cheating on Vanek

Titanic still plays with the Sabres Alumni team - and is a pretty nice guy- even if he was the Sabres first bust. The alumni team was at my local rink for a charity event a couple years back, and they were great. They let my kids into the locker room afterwards, signed a bunch of stuff for them, and joked and laughed with them. Razor was there, and he signed the poster I have been dragging around with me since Rob Ray Appreciation night more than a decade ago. Razor was rough housing with my then 5 year old, and is now his hero. He had to have a Ray jersey, and now sports the #32 in the original home whites at hockey practice every week. His coaches just laugh.

This might be the funniest things I've read in a very long time. Oh dear. I shed a single tear of joy. :worthy:

WOW. It's like the Gordie Howe hat-trick of limericks.

Perreault did not play very much on the penalty killing squad until later in his career (and even then, not much). Luce and Ramsay were the primary penalty killing forwards during much of the '70s. The secondary PK forwards included Ric Seiling and Rick Dudley among others over the seasons. Luce and Ramsay were probably two of the best PK men in all of the NHL at the time.

Craig Ramsay's stats are very very good.

No. 10 was a very, very good two-way forward. IMO, he's what Hecht should be and what Pominville might turn into. Ramsay was not a big name on teams that had Perreault, Martin, Robert, Gare, Sauve, Edwards, Schoenfeld, Barrasso, and I'm sure I'm missing a few, over his career, but he was a very, very good hockey player. Won a Selke. And as above, when paired with Don Luce, he was one of the best PK forwards in the game.
