Two or less Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 On his twitter, Kevin Allen (USA Today) said Ilya Kovalchuk has been traded to a Eastern Conference team. He said the deal will be announced later tonight. Sportsnet in Canada picked up the story from Allen and are predicting the team is Philadelphia. According to sportsnet, the deal would be JVR, Briere, Hartnell and a 2011 first round pick. Thoughts?
darksabre Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 from Twitter NHLSourcesSay Phone buzzing off the hook! Source says the Canadiens may be the team, this leaves Capitals, Devils, Flyers, and Habs...stay tuned!
novascotiaguy Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 The Flyers never learn they need a goalie not a forward. Teams don't get it you need a goalie to win.
Two or less Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 NHLSourceSay is claiming 100% for sure it's NJ Devils....

They're getting Briere under contract for 5 more years, Hartnell for 3 more years, a really good young player in JVR and a 1st round pick to boot. If this is the deal, Philly got taken. I hope they flame out in the 1st round of the playoffs...IF THEY MAKE THE PLAYOFFS! :D
darksabre Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 NHLSourceSay is claiming 100% for sure it's NJ Devils.... No NHLSourcesSay I'm told Kovalchuk is now a Devil...trying to get 100% confirmation.
wjag Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Confirmed. Kovy is a Devil. I can't imagine a worse team for him to go to..
LabattBlue Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Confirmed. Kovy is a Devil. Can't be. I just finished my analysis on the Philly deal!
X. Benedict Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Confirmed. Kovy is a Devil. confirmed where?
darksabre Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Apparently Oduya is one of the players going to ATL.
darksabre Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 confirmed where? http://twitter.com/NHLSourcesSay
wjag Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 confirmed where? Agreed... You'd think that would be 3 inch headlines on TSN and it aint to be found..
X. Benedict Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Agreed... You'd think that would be 3 inch headlines on TSN and it aint to be found.. At least a guy with a twitter account is something... But anyway, the Devils just sound like a weird system for Kovy to end up in.
novascotiaguy Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Agreed... You'd think that would be 3 inch headlines on TSN and it aint to be found.. Yea your right I can not belive this is not on tsn.
Two or less Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 At least a guy with a twitter account is something... But anyway, the Devils just sound like a weird system for Kovy to end up in. Fox Sports Net, Darren Dreger and Kevin Allen all confirmed it. Kovy is a Devil. Oduya is part of the deal going to Atlanta, according to Friedman. According to a NJ reporter, he believes the deal is- Bergfors, Oduya, a prospect and pick

Bergfors, Oduya, Prospect, and Pick sounds like a pretty light price, of course he is just a rental at this point.

Bergfors, Oduya, Prospect, and Pick sounds like a pretty light price, of course he is just a rental at this point. That is less than I would have expected him to go for, even as a rental. Waddell must be fun to have around at a poker game. Don walks in the door, you can hear someone yelling from the back "OK fellas, pot's here."

Bergfors, Oduya, Prospect, and Pick sounds like a pretty light price, of course he is just a rental at this point. Looks like Tedenby is the prospect and the pick is obviously 1st round. I don't see any way NJ Devils can re-sign him though so i do think it's only a rental.
novascotiaguy Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 How does this guy fit into NJ system I don't get it.
darksabre Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 How do we know he doesn't fit into a NJ system? All he's ever played for is Atlanta and they've never been good. Kovy plays an offense first game because there's no point to play defensively in Atlanta. I'm interested to see how this works out.
X. Benedict Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 How does this guy fit into NJ system I don't get it. Well, the Devil's were willing to part with their Swedish/Kenyan D man. I wonder how the Swedish/Kenyan community will react in Atlanta? That should move some Seas. Tix.
ThePebble19 Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 That is right along the lines of the underwhelming price I thought he would go for.
X. Benedict Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 That is right along the lines of the underwhelming price I thought he would go for. I bet Lemaire is just going to hate him.
Two or less Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 Kevin Allen now reporting its Patrice Cormier as the prospect... the kid who is suspended for the year by CHL.
