I still remember a SI that came outin June after we lost to Philly, The Sabres were on the cover, The headline was, "Did The Best Team Really Win?"

 

BTW: I was going to post this. While rummaging around in the basement I found a Hockey News from 74 with the cover story about the fantastic rookie Danny Gare. Just glanced through it so far, but it was an amazing find. :D :D

Couple of points...

 

1) What's with these articles all starting off with Buffalo jokes? Jerks.

 

2) The "Mother's Bakery" mentioned in the first paragraph of the fourth article is the same place where many Sabres have hung out for the last couple of decades. It's now just "Mother's," the restaurant on Virginia Place in Allentown.
