Eleven Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I'm telling you, go to www.kfox.com and click "Listen Online" Best commentary I've heard in any sport. These guys are definitely better than okay. They really are. The announcer doesn't do the best job of describing the play (we're spoiled with that, here), but they certainly are balanced. More balanced than our home broadcast team (especially now that we don't have Lorentz to point out that the Sabres actually can do wrong once in a while), and more balanced than most East Coast crews. I like your analyst, and I think that if your announcer can get back to describing games and not telling stories a la NBC/Versus, you're going to have a great tandem there in San Jose. I plan to watch the third with these two on the audio, as well.
Two or less Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Anyone check this out.... the CSNCalifornia.com poll.... http://www.csncalifornia.com/pages/sharks Who should win the Vezina this year? Luongo, Nabby, Miller or Marty? Miller is owning the poll.
Eleven Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I've never understood the logic that hitting a post is not considered a shot on goal.. Well, here's the logic; whether you agree with it or not, I can't help: A shot on goal is a shot that would end up in the net if not for some action by an opposing player. Since a shot that hits a post wouldn't end up in the net, it is not a SOG.
wjag Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Doubled them up in SOGs, equal in faceoffs, but 0-4 in PPs and that is the difference..
SJSharks Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Only one of the greatest saves I have ever seen. See the video below:
... Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I agree, the Sabres really should have turned around one of the PPs they had.

But come on, hitting the pipes IS A SHOT ON GOAL..

Luongo, Nabby, Miller or Marty? Miller is owning the poll. Miller definitely deserves it this year. But as has been shown in the past, the most deserving player doesn't always get it.
Two or less Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Doubled them up in SOGs, equal in faceoffs, but 0-4 in PPs and that is the difference.. Sabres were much better in the first then the second. The CSN crew said Sharks outhit the Sabres like 17-6 in the first. Wonder if that had anything to do with the Sabres slowing down a bit in the 2nd? If Sabres score first here, i like our chances of winning, even in regulation. Sharks score first and the flood gates may open.
Calvin Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Only one of the greatest saves I have ever seen. See the video below: look up Miller while you're on YouTube, and see what the greatest saves really look like.
... Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Only one of the greatest saves I have ever seen. See the video below: You haven't seen Miller much, then.
SJSharks Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I agree, the Sabres really should have turned around one of the PPs they had. I agree, but they are facing the best PK in the NHL this month. SJ has now killed 34 straight penalties.
Two or less Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Only one of the greatest saves I have ever seen. See the video below: I prefer this one. Thanks though.
SJSharks Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I think I am being misconstrued. I am not arguing the fact that Miller is the best goalie in the league right now, I just don't think Nabokov gets enough credit.
Eleven Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 To quote the fios commercial.. "seems dumb to me" I understand the technical reason. But come on, hitting the pipes IS A SHOT ON GOAL.. Jag, you're going to hate me for this, but... Nope.

Sabres had their chances though. No disrespect to the Sharks PK unit, but Sabres spread them out pretty well and had great chances, just couldn't finish.

I am not arguing the fact that Miller is the best goalie in the league right now, I just don't think Nabokov gets enough credit. He has, and has had, plenty of credit. He is a very good goalie. He is not as good as Ryan Miller this year.
SJSharks Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 He has, and has had, plenty of credit. He is a very good goalie. He is not as good as Ryan Miller this year. That said, there are a couple of Sharks boards that are linked in our "NHL message boards" section. Just sayin'. I'm sure. But I am a longtime member of TSW at TBD, and assume that many of the same posters are here. And, I enjoy some spirited conversation with fans of the other team. It is much more entertaining to get some other points of view than having everybody stroking your team. As I said, I mean no disrespect to anybody. The sabres are a great team and have great fans.
Armydoogie Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Finally woke up enough to comment about the game... Well, so much for my (4-1 SABRES) prediction. Oh well! Sabres can score one more to get a point, or two unanswered to be in the power position. I really expect Buffalo to come out flying in the third!!!
SJSharks Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 He has, and has had, plenty of credit. He is a very good goalie. He is not as good as Ryan Miller this year. And I can't deny this. Even with my homer glasses on.

... Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Sabres had their chances though. No disrespect to the Sharks PK unit, but Sabres spread them out pretty well and had great chances, just couldn't finish. That is the essence of what is holding the Sabres back this season. If they could just FINISH consistently they would be on top of the conference.
