Eleven Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Gerbe, Ennis and Weber are in. Game apparently is on MSG tomorrow at 6pm. MSG is showing the skills competition right now, in the Buffalo area at least. (I guess it was earlier this evening, but MSG was showing us a different kind of skills competition.) Not going to drift off too easily tonight, so this may help. Especially if it's anything like the NHL skills competitions.

I didn't watch the skills competition, but for those interested here's the results. Gerbe had a pretty poor showing.
static70 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 What channel is the AHL all star game on for Time Warner Cable? Its not on MSG.
nobody Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 The game is on now. MSG. Who needs sleep.
LabattBlue Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I watched a little bit of the game last night and it was every bit of the joke that the NHL all-star game has become. I can understand the lack of physical play, but most guys are going half speed and nobody is trying to play defense at all.
SabresBillsFan Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Just a heads up in case any of you care but he's part of the future and he looks great! http://www.portlandpirates.com/newsarticle.asp?Id=1943
inkman Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I look forward to seeing him in a Sabres uni, he aquitted himself quite well in his brief debut.
nobody Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 He has to work on his shootout shot. So does Gerbe.
tom webster Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I look forward to seeing him in a Sabres uni, he aquitted himself quite well in his brief debut. Just a hunch, but I see him making his mark elsewhere in the NHL.
wonderbread Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 Just a hunch, but I see him making his mark elsewhere in the NHL. Really? Why so?
inkman Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 Really? Why so? A hunch. The Sabres are anti hunch. I can't blame them, who would want a team of Quasimotos constantly getting nailed on the ice because their heads are always down.

I can't blame them, who would want a team of Quasimotos constantly getting nailed on the ice because their heads are always down. It is because they are anti "Bold" move. As long as Roy and Pominville are part of their core, there is no "long term" room for Gerbe and Ennis. They have to be top 6 forwards to be successful and they won't fit in with existing core. Plus, Ennis and Gerbe are exactly the kind of prospects teams can sell to their fans. Flashy, speedy guys with a fair amount of minor league success. I personally would trade Roy but I think they will trade Ennis.
LabattBlue Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I personally would trade Roy but I think they will trade Ennis. If we are talking about the offseason, I'd think long and hard before trading Ennis and keeping Roy(assuming there is no room on the smurf bandwagon). The only downside to this would be that unless Ennis gets a longer look before the end of the season, he is an unknown commodity at the NHL level.

But we don't have top-six forwards or first/second lines. ;) Seriously, though, Lindy's been using more of a traditional set of lines recently, but he certainly wasn't to start the season. If they decide to run three scoring lines, then I could see one of those two coming up. I still want to see that Ennis-Kennedy-Kaleta line some more.
