That is one of the hardest buidlings to play in. Crap traveling to the rink, the rink is ancient. It is just a hard place to play games in.

 

2)

Vanek needs to stop tying to undress guys and nutmeg guys at the line -- AND GO WIDE WITH THE PUCK. He has a GREAT wrap-around and needs to use the wide part of the ice. He keeps going to the middle -- and that aint going to cut it.

 

3)

Pominville played a great game last night. He was active and really played hard. He took a few huge hits -- he has played great of late.

 

4)

 

Ruff should have played Kennedy on the shoot-out.

 

5)

Montador was terrible in the 1st and 2nd periods. He had a few bad giveaways and looked shaky. Again, a trade for Wallin, of eh Hurricans, is necessary. He would have been a nice guy to have on the backline in that game. A calm, horse of a man. I would offer a 2nd or Mancari and a 4th for Wallin this afternoon, if I was Darcy. And then yank Lydman out of the lineup and let Montador play with WAllin.

 

6)

Ellis would have been a good guy to have last game -- instead of Gaustad. Foot speed was necessary as NY played a fast pace game. Guastad was behinf every play and looked lethargic adn cumbersome. Ellis must be played for PUCK pursuit in a game like this.

 

7)

Hecht played a good game. he was active and took some big hits and hacks and slashes to make some plays.

 

8)

THe KAeleta hit on Hillen was brilliant. Kaleta is a compack little fella, but he finishes his hits with his hands. Ala Mike Peca, but with more lower body strenght and leverage.

 

9)

THe refs were TERRIBLE. The Islanders, for the most part, are a bunch of hacks. THey slash and hook like it si a lacross game out there. Someone ought to puck an elbow into the side of Doug Weight's goofy head -- that cheap hack.

 

10)

Mair, like Gaustad, looked slow and lethargic. Against fast teams, like the Caps, etc, they better dress Ellis and then find anohter puck pursuit guy (maybe dress PAetch). That line was pathetic last night.

 

11)

Stafford went to the net and was rewarded.

 

12)

McCathur needs to make faster plays with the puck. He is an edgy little player with nice skills overall. but to be helpful, he ought to move pucks faster and go to net. He needs to play a simple game and go up and down his wing like he is on a track. I dont like when he trys to get too "creative."
