carpandean Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 As was pointed out in the "So, the Bills ..." thread, there are many of us here that aren't real active on a Bills forum, but would like to talk about the Bills (or NFL, in general, in this case) with our "friends" at SabreSpace. After yesterday's games, I thought it would be nice to have a single thread to talk about these games. So, here it is. As for yesterday ... Patriots dun get blowed up! Crazy ending (fumble recovery for a TD in OT) for Green Bay, especially since there was a blatant facemask on Rodgers in the process.
end the curse Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 My biggest fear is not out of the question: Cowboys/Jets Superbowl.
inkman Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Patriots dun get blowed up! There is a God and his name isnt't Tom Brady or Bill Belichek.
MattPie Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Patriots dun get blowed up! As something of a Ravens fan*, I'm really annoyed I was in my car and could only listen to the radio and hear the Pats get eliminated. I really would have rather watched it. :) As for the NFC, anyone but the Cowboys works for me. :) * Criteria: - My ex-girlfriend is a Ravens fan, so I ended up watching games anyways and didn't want to piss her off. :) - The Ravens don't really have a history with the Bills. It's not like I'm rooting for the Bengals who were the Bills' playoff Ottawa before the early 90s. F'in' Icky Woods. - I know rooting for another AFC team isn't quite right, but by week 8 or 9 when the Bills are out of the playoffs, it doesn't bother me any more. - The Ravens are named after Edgar Allen Poe's poem since Poe lived in the same area as the current stadium. As far as football team names go, that's a cool one. The mascot is named 'Poe'. - It gives me a decent reason to hate the Steelers and Bengals. :)
wjag Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 I DESPISE the Ravens with every fiber of my being. So much so I was rooting for the diabolical Patriots going into the game. After it was clear that Tom Terrific was really Tom Terrible, I wanted the Ravens to put 60 on them. I haven't forgotten.
shrader Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 There is a God and his name isnt't Tom Brady or Bill Belichek. Didn't we learn this two years ago?
Cereal Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 I DESPISE the Ravens with every fiber of my being. Their fans are kind of pompous and annoying... lots of annoying lady fans with Ed Reed jerseys that watch the game at my bar here in VA. Of course I'll always root against the Pats*/Fins/Jets. Ravens ruling the Pats* in the first quarter was awesome! Couldn't believe it, I was lovin' it. Pack/Cards was awesome... Rodgers is going to be the man for years to come, he just looked so focused. Cards-Cowgirls, Indy-Chargers are my predictions for next week.
JujuFish Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Pack/Cards was awesome... Rodgers is going to be the man for years to come, he just looked so focused. He sure looked like a real successor to Favre after that first quarter; I was very impressed.
billsrcursed Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 There is a God and his name isnt't Tom Brady or Bill Belichek. Duhhhh, it's Tedy Bruschi. Half man, half god, half possible centaur.... look it up on youtube if you really wanna blow milk out of your nose, or puke, whichever... God I hate the Pats.
FogBat Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 My biggest fear is not out of the question: Cowboys/Jets Superbowl. The Cowboys need to lose. The "skate in the crease" curse must continue and it must haunt all of Dallas' sports teams.
FogBat Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 The Cowboys need to lose. The "skate in the crease" curse must continue and it must haunt all of Dallas' sports teams. The Cowboys did lose today to the Vikings - big time! The Curse continues. :w00t:
darksabre Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I can't believe the stinkin Jets won.
Two or less Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Special teams are starting to get annoying. Cowboys miss 2 FGs today, SD misses 3 (although, the really long one i can't count against him) and Cincy missed 2 last week. Pathetic.
wjag Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Norv Turner blew the game today. He should have kicked off deep instead of onsides. He left the ball at midfield. There is no way Rex Ryan goes for that 4 and 1 if the ball was on his 29. On to Rex Ryan. That is a coach. That call to go for it on 4th and 1 took a pair.
Stoner Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 This is neither here nor there, but Sanchez called timeout with 1:10 left, with one second left on the play clock. But the big fourth down play came with 1:09 left. How is this possible? If the timeout came with 1:09 left, wouldn't it be delay of game on the Jets? Needless to say, that one second could have been huge later on.

Thanks Phil. :) I don't see what the big deal is. The reward was getting the ball back -- Norv certainly knew how good his kicker is at these kicks -- and SD almost pulled it off. The risk was giving up a modest amount of yardage (30 yards?) Worth the risk IMHO. I've always wondered why the kicker doesn't just drill the ball at the mass of defenders. It would almost certainly carom off one of them and go God knows where. The lack of innovation in onside kicks in the NFL is pretty striking. Loved the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for kicking the challenge flag. What would it take to earn a penalty like that late in an NHL playoff game?

Eleven Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Some horrible football this weekend. Just not fun to watch (well, the Vikes running up the score against Jerry Jones was kind of fun). The Chargers-Jets game had me wondering how either team had made it to the playoffs.
cdexchange Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Maybe tossing the puck over the glass with your hand or something ... oh wait ... never mind. :wallbash:

New man crush, perhaps?
FogBat Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 What's interesting is that I heard all sorts of smack being talked about on the CB Radio a few weeks ago about how the Cowboys were going to tear things up in the playoffs. However, the day after the Vikings did away with them, all I could hear on the radio was nothing but silence. Not even the crickets were chirping. So much for sticking up for their team. :D
LabattBlue Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Thank goodness that obnoxious fat tub of lard Ryan, is done for the year.
wjag Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Thank goodness that obnoxious fat tub of lard Ryan, is done for the year. Wish that obnoxious fat tub of lard Ryan was the Bills coach.
FogBat Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Wish that obnoxious fat tub of lard Ryan was the Bills coach. Nice way to turn the tables in your favor. OTOH, my wife is a diehard Saints fan. She wants them to win this game really bad.
carpandean Posted January 25, 2010 Author Report Posted January 25, 2010 Favre gives up a bad interception with 18 seconds left in a tie game and his team in long field goal position. Saints win the OT coin toss. Edit: and the Saints are going to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history!!
