All Along The Watchtower Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 Ah yes, fond memories of 1975 in my JC Penney SabreJak
shrader Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 That is slick. My parents have one of those in the basement. My mom's uncle used to wear it all the time and it's something they will never get rid of.

Sabre Dance Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Dear Lord! I thought all those were gone long ago! Well, JCP sold those for years and it seemed like every third person out on the streets was wearing one....it stands to reason that some would survive. That is truly a blast from the past...
Eleven Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 woof. that's one ugly coat. Yeah it is. But if you're lovin' #41 like your sig says, you might be a little young to remember it the way some of us older folks do. (Just kidding, chz; I'm actually only 23.)
Ohiofan Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Way back when, I was 11 and went shopping for a winter coat. When I saw the SabreJak in JC Penney, I thought it was the most beautiful coat I ever saw. I just had to have it, I was such a fan of the team! Mom said "NO. It's not warm enough". Well...I whined, cajoled, begged, and eventually broke mom down. She bought me the coat, and I was the happiest kid in Buffalo. Needless to say...it was not really a coat. It was, as the name implies, a JACKET. I froze my ass off all that long cold winter (75-76 i think), but man, was I proud! I wish I still had it. I saw a pic the other day of my little sister wearing it after I outgrew it. After two kids, it was nasty (it really was a flimsy thing) torn and stained, and I guess mom pitched it. Best coat I ever had

There is not a single tear and she had it dry cleaned at some point recently. I guess that's the difference between a little old guy and a young kid wearing a jacket like that.
blugold43 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Yeah it is. But if you're lovin' #41 like your sig says, you might be a little young to remember it the way some of us older folks do. (Just kidding, chz; I'm actually only 23.) i remember when they sold them, and trust me, i would have been thrilled to wear it at the time. i guess i should have mentioned that. but the design didn't age so well, did it? i mean...other than that kick-ass logo!
