SabresRepublic Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 The hit to Roy's head and non-call as well as many non calls during the Sabres - Ottawa game begs the question: Who are these striped men? What is their training, salary and how long on average are they plying their trade? Also, is there a quality control regimen in place to grade their performance? The NHL operates somewhat like the wizard of Oz answering only to a board of governors which collectively are the wizard of Oz. It is time for transparency! I would like to set up this TOPIC as a clearinghouse to document every call (if questionable) or non-call of every Sabre game and to discuss our options as to getting the NHL to respond even if we have to take them to court - including the Hague!

Will this include all calls that go the Sabres way as well? Anyway, considering how bad the Sabres power play is non-calls are a positive for the Sabres. If you want to start a petition or a law suit. Trying suing the NHL to allow the Sabres to decline penalties.

Stoner Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 [/b] Yes! I think it should be an option. Seriously. There are times in games when the momentum has swung so dramatically that the besieged team has to be hoping for a penalty, especially against power play teams like Lindy's. Kill the penalty easily, get a major boost and turn the tide. It happens all the time. Coaches should be able to decline.
BuffalOhio Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 It certainly appears that interference has been removed from the rulebook completely. There has to be some secret memo that's gone out indicating such.
SabresRepublic Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 It certainly appears that interference has been removed from the rulebook completely. There has to be some secret memo that's gone out indicating such. Whatever the case may be - memos or NOT - there needs to be greater transparency because the Sabres will win the Stanley Cup if and only if the officiating becomes consistent. The Sabres are a fine skill team - no other team can compare and we can play with any of them if and only if the hostile attitude of some teams is called to task on the ice. They can't skate with the Sabres so they cheat. The hit against Roy yesterday is a classic example and ultimately was the last straw. No action from the NHL just like Darko Roto Rooter's hit on Kaleta. Take these videos put them on youtube and ask the question - is it a hit to the head? This should be the premier hockey venue in the world - the best of the world! NOT UFC cage fighting on skates!
shrader Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 You're missing the point there. Hits to the head are not illegal. That's the NHL's problem, not the way they're making the calls in game.
