deluca67 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I was thinking the same thing, WTF. Shoot, put me on the ice for a shift, I'll go after one of them.... Ruutu should be removed from the game by the NHL and if not the Sabres should all go after him as a group if that is what it takes. Screw winning the game, forget it and hit any Sen. that moves The Sens are the second softest team in the NHL next to the Sabres. Why are the Sabres so afraid to go after them. You would think after last season when the Sens spent the entire night running Miller, which led to Gomez taking Miller and the Sabres playoff chances out, they would grow a pair and actually do something. So much for all the toughness and grit this team supposedly added in the off-season.
SwampD Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Peppermints? That's my new name for Pominville.
carpandean Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Myers with 28:32 TOI tonight. That's the second straight game over 28 minutes.
North Buffalo Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Must have gone to the restaurant owned by the Montreal time keeper...
repster Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Apparently 7 players were suffering from food poisoning. Sure looked like it. Ruutu was filling in for Neal in his absence...that team drives me nuts. When they play Ottawa they always lose, but it's always really poor play on the Sabres part or something else bad happens to make it worse than just losing normally.
billsrcursed Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I'm actually used to watching 4 of our top 6 suck balls every night, nothing new there. BUT......I cannot believe Ruutu went untouched. Say what you want about being owned by the Sens, or all the excuses about food poisoning, blah blah blah. When one of your teammates, one that's been busting his ass to help you win games, gets run like that and you stand there with your head up your ass doing absolutely nothing to let the league and the rest of the teams know you will NOT put up with that crap, you can go ahead and mail it in right now. That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever witnessed on Ice in my 30 years of existence. I want to puke right now. Those pussies should be ashamed of themselves, seriously. Sorry, I'm done....

Although normally I'd say food poisoning shouldn't affect a team dynamic, 7 players is sort of a big deal, especially if the players that had it are typically our energy guys. If they come back and romp on Toronto on Friday all will be forgiven.
Howie Hodge Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 While I would celebrate with great joy and verve any win over Ottawa, deep down inside I want to lay on them a dominating beat down; both physically and on the scoreboard. If it's wrong to hate, than consider my attitude towards the Sens as wrong as it gets. You are one crazy old man! I missed not drinking at your Pub tonight. You should consider moving it's location, and opening again!
Sabretip Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Who else is going bald by pulling their hair out with every dumb maneuver that Connolly and/or Roy make in trying to stickhandle the puck over the blueline past 3-4 opponents, only to create turnovers that lead to odd-man rushes the other way? I am getting so sick and tired of this power play that centers around Connolly and Roy - both are so predictable and ineffective in their decision making, it's no wonder why the Sabres can't score a power play goal unless some freak bounce goes in off a player's leg or the other goalie misplays an otherwise innocent shot.

But I agree with what you're saying in principle, which is why we I thought we were drafting big and nasty kids. Unfortunately that lot are still a few years away from being on this squad.
Kristian Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Gomer was a Rag last season. But I agree with what you're saying in principle, which is why we I thought we were drafting big and nasty kids. Unfortunately that lot are still a few years away from being on this squad. As long as the top 6 forwards aren't producing, we'll end up relying on our 3th and 4th lines to do the scoring. And as long as our PP continues to be less than scary, other teams will have no problem taking penalties on us. What I don't understand is why this team doesn't just go out and try and shut the Sens down, but always have to try and skate with them instead?

But I agree with what you're saying in principle, which is why we I thought we were drafting big and nasty kids. Unfortunately that lot are still a few years away from being on this squad. I know. The Rangers were fully aware of how the Sabres refused to defend Miller against the Sens which is why Gomez went into Miller without any fear of repercussions. It's also why a player can drive Kaleta's into the boards and not worry about his teammates coming after him. The talk of this team being tougher or grittier is a myth. Somehow Miller's standing out there on his own stealing games is translating into ideas that this is a completely different team. It is a myth.
CallawaySabres Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 1)They have done great all season not letting Miller get run - DON'T let it happen now without SERIOUS consequence 2)Whatever - they played a clunker (bad passing)food poisoning, etc, etc, et 3) Miller is INSANE!!!

Hell, Kaleta should be seeking out someone to punish just for no reason at all. If they didn't learn from the Gomez incident, will they ever?
North Buffalo Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I officially hate Carrie Underwood. Just saw a replay of the Sabres Aw Wa Wa game and it showed her cheering the Senseless. Never really liked her, too much media creation like Shania Twain or any of the so-called bimbo country singers they trot out from Canada, but now it is official... just saying. P.S. I like country, just not fake Canadian country.

zow2 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I love the Sabres...watch or DVR every game, but I still cannot take this team seriously if they can't beat Ottawa. There is something flawed when this club just cannot put the wood to the Sens at least a few times a year.

RJ pointed out that Carrie Underwood is dating Mike Fisher - being from Oklahoma, I'm sure Carrie doesn't know a puck from a fu.... well, you get the idea.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 So, the hit on Kaleta. Is it a sign of the times that it really didn't get much attention? DeLuca will say it's a Sabres thing, but you see those hits more and more where there isn't mayhem that follows. I think a lot of people have been desensitized to them. Watching it again, it's tough to tell if Ruutu hits Kaleta's head with his shoulder. Anyone with a nice HD view? I'm sure some will say that the body language of Kaleta was suspicious. Could he have been more statue-like? Has he been coached to take a hit like that to draw a penalty?
end the curse Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Owned again. The intimidation Ottawa has over us is incredible. They beat the crap out of us and we just take it like little . You could see right away that the Sabres were playing passive and scared...it's unbelievable to see, really. It's actually getting worse, because now we don't even try to compete physically. Kaleta getting that cheap shot from Ruutu without any response at all from the rest of the team was just incredible. I mean, not even a gentle push or angry word, just complete subservience to Master Ottawa. Food poisoning excuses, and a bunch of whaaah, whaaaah, whaaah belly aching... I'm the one sick after that display. Sick. Ottawa is without Neil, without Spezza, without Foligno, yet the Sabres have the audacity to whine about queasy stomachs? I think the queasiness came from being afraid to play the Senators. Pathetic.
R_Dudley Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Tonight we see the other element Ottawa brings to a game with the Sabres that the Sabres almost never bring -- a cruddy player willing to do something nasty to win a game. The Senators actually toy with the Sabres. It's becoming laughable. So go head-shot Alfie. What's the worst thing that can happen? That's what I'm talking about show him some man love. :pirate: Yeah the one time we see a BUF player clear the crease its called Exactly what I said. Who the f**k is this teams strength and conditioning coach? Louie Anderson? Rosie O'Donnell? The fat kid from 'Head of The Class'? They didn't play last night. Why would they be tired? Are they the most physically soft team in the NHL? I was thinking the same thing, WTF. Shoot, put me on the ice for a shift, I'll go after one of them.... Ruutu should be removed from the game by the NHL and if not the Sabres should all go after him as a group if that is what it takes. Screw winning the game, forget it and hit any Sen. that moves Bingo that's what's wrong with the preponderance of SGM's that round out our top 6. Who else is going bald by pulling their hair out with every dumb maneuver that Connolly and/or Roy make in trying to stickhandle the puck over the blueline past 3-4 opponents, only to create turnovers that lead to odd-man rushes the other way? And let me add on top of that our coach who says he is going to play the guy's that earn the ice time keeps putting these same 3 SGM's out there. That's re-inforcing bad behavior in my book. The only line that was showing me anything yesterday was Mair, Ellis, Grier, they should have been given the PP ice time if you are gloing to practice what you preach, Lindy.

Kaleta's head twists, smacks off the glass, and springs back like a whiplash. With his neck problems and two confirmed concussions already; this kids (sorry to say) close to done.

I hope you're wrong, but I can see why you fear that might be the case. The good news is that he never lost consciousness. The bad news, whether it's head or neck we are still likely to be without Patty for awhile, and that really sucks. I'm still outraged that nobody even looked at Ruutu after that shot. Nothing. In fact, late in the 3rd Ruutu was back at it pushing us around some more, and we just sat back and took it.
North Buffalo Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Any new news?? on Pat? Here is a link to the utube video, a little grainy, didn't see anything up on the network. Still think it was a cheap shot from where he came from and a should to the head from behind is a cheap shot and he should be suspended. Since he is a repeat offender make it 7 games. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=AJDbvrsfRWA The more I watch it the more it looks like a head butt from behind, not a shoulder. Check it out between the 13 and 15 second marks in slow motion.... what B.S.
