LabattBlue Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Hopefully during the press conference, Paul Hamilton will enlighten Lindy as to what went wrong.
deluca67 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Northeast GP W L OTL Pts GF GA Buffalo 31 20 9 2 42 85 68 <---This is what counts, not GF!!! Boston 32 16 10 6 38 84 80 Ottawa 32 16 12 4 36 92 96 Montreal 34 15 16 3 33 88 99 Toronto 33 12 14 7 31 97 116 Not to belabor the point, but we are ranked 19th in the NHL at 2.68 G/G...more towards the middle than the bottom What counts is giving Miller more support. If you think riding Miller's back the entire season without addressing this teams whoa-full lack of production will land them a playoff spot you are greatly mistaken. Their offense is now 22nd in the league, in the bottom third. That nine point margin they have over 8th place can disappear quickly if they don't address the need for forwards. They need better than the 24th best power play if they plan on not wasting the year Miller is having.
deluca67 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Team looks tired. Bad news we have back-to-back weekend games. Worried how we will do. PTR Who the f**k is this teams strength and conditioning coach? Louie Anderson? Rosie O'Donnell? The fat kid from 'Head of The Class'? They didn't play last night. Why would they be tired? Are they the most physically soft team in the NHL?
static70 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 People that are using the recent run or Buf's overall season record I would like to issue a note of cuation on this. Losing this game, in and of itself is not really a big deal. I too, agree that this Buf team has done far better than the last 2 seasons. But, I must warn, this issue with Ottawa my very well come back to haunt them come playoff time. Also, there should be a very real concern regarding our top 6 forwards. To date I have seen nothing from them that would convince me this team would even make it through the first round of the playoffs. There are some very real CHEMISTRY issues with these 6 players (Vanek, Roy, Stafford, Connolly, MacArthur, Pomminstein). These guys are suppose to show up way more often than they do, their salaries put aside for a moment, these 6 guys are not even remotely responsible for the recent string of success, it has been the 3rd and 4th liners that have really chipped in and stepped up. This current situation is not sustainable, eventually it will catch up with them. Whether it be this month or next (7 game road trip in JAN.) Darcy needs to make a dam good trade and call Gerbe and Ennis up fulltime if necessary. Whatever it takes to get the chemistry, cause currently, they don't have it.
carpandean Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Tonight we see the other element Ottawa brings to a game with the Sabres that the Sabres almost never bring -- a cruddy player willing to do something nasty to win a game. The day the Sabres sign Jarko Ruutu is the last day you will see me post here. Seriously, he maybe the only player in the NHL that I literally hate. He is beyond dirty. Every game that I can remember watching against the Sens where he has played, he has been caught on film doing something that was not just against the rules, but showed clear intent to injure. The fact that he's still in the NHL boggles my mind.
North Buffalo Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 It is more like the Sabres need to understand that the way to play the Wa Wa's is to start out hitting and don't let up. They think they can skate with them and they can't and for whatever reason, Ottowa plays like it is on roids when the Sabs show up. Still if Pommer won't hit nor Connolly sit them and bring up some AHL guys who will.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I made it home in time for the post-game show, where Miller was awarded the first star, and whatever anonymity who plays in the Ottawa net was awarded the second. Is this MSG, or is this real? The anonymity had a shutout; give him the gold star. Team 1200. A pretty gutsy selection. More objectivity in the three stars would be appreciated. Flip the roles and play the game in Buffalo and there's no way Miller isn't the first star.

Double wow.
darksabre Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Players who deserve a good punch in the c*nt: -Derek "Flamboyant Hand Gesticulations" Roy -Jason "The One Trick Pony" Pominville -Tim "Tough as Jell-o" Connolly Trade em. Now. Win or Lose, they're completely useless.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 What you just said is so stupid I can't even think right now. This play happens 50 times a game and is NEVER called. It's NOT A PENALTY. Go insult the rule book. Maybe you should get your hands on one. You and Harry Neale should get together.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Hopefully during the press conference, Paul Hamilton will enlighten Lindy as to what went wrong. He tried. Zero questions so far...
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 ? Any word on Kaleta? "Not good" said Lindy.
SwampD Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Go insult the rule book. Maybe you should get your hands on one. You and Harry Neale should get together. Show me a replay and explain to me how hitting a guy's bum shoulder is a penalty.
deluca67 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 "Not good" said Lindy. Is it time to worry about a concussion problem with Kaleta? I thought he had one earlier in the year.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Show me a replay and explain to me how hitting a guy's bum shoulder is a penalty. You asked about Pominville's penalty.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Is it time to worry about a concussion problem with Kaleta? I thought he had one earlier in the year. Of course it's time. The Code says Kaleta must be removed from the game. For good. It's sad, but true. I'll be interested to see how the league justifies no suspension. I imagine, behind the scenes, that Kaleta's style will be the justification. Who knows what they will tell the fans. We might even hear "blame the victim" again. After all, it was Kaleta's head that got in the way.
SwampD Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 You asked about Pominville's penalty. You're absolutely right. It's been a tough day, but I still don't think it was a penalty.
Stoner Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 John Vogl enters the Sabre crowd fray with this line from his game blog: "7:41 p.m.: This is by far the quietest I've ever heard this building in my eight seasons. It's even quieter than HSBC Arena lately."

At least while he is healing he can look back at this teams toughness with players like Rivet, Grier and Montador knowing they sent a message that you can't take shots at this team. Oh wait, I forgot, it's the Buffalo Sabres.

Oh wait, I forgot, it's the Buffalo Sabres. I was thinking the same thing, WTF. Shoot, put me on the ice for a shift, I'll go after one of them.... Ruutu should be removed from the game by the NHL and if not the Sabres should all go after him as a group if that is what it takes. Screw winning the game, forget it and hit any Sen. that moves
Bmwolf21 Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Maybe they should get a guy to announce goals like the guy from the strip club the Sabres use. Peppermints?
carpandean Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Ruff also noted that seven players were suffering from food poisoning. http://www.wgr550.com/Senators-Shut-Down-Sabres-2-0/5911690
