Slug jersey coming to an end

Two or less

BUFFALO is doing away with the so-called “slug” logo on both its home/blue and road/white jerseys, presumably returning, full-time, to the club’s original “cross-swords” logo, now in use on the throw-back third jersey.

IDK, i think he's unsure what they will change to but he seems confident that they are getting rid of their slugs. Howard Berger is a respected guy in Toronto. The entire blog post is about jerseys... idk, to me it just seems more then just an opinion.

Has this been confirmed? Sounds like the writer might just be passing along conventional wisdom.

"A league merchandizing source has told me..."

doesn't get any more rock solid than that!

I also heard Quinn allude to this on an NHL talk-show in Toronto before the season started.

Quinn all but said it a couple times on WGR. It's going to be an all new third jersey too, what are you guys thinking for that? Maybe a gold jersey?

I'm thinking... where in God's name does this end? How shameless can one organization be? The return of the classic logo as the primary jersey is great. But now we'll have to see ANOTHER third jersey?

I know. I'd be fine with the Slugs as a third, honestly.

Wouldn't Mind if they went back to the black and red with the snorting Buffalo on the front looking more like a Bull. Keep it Blue with a White Buffalo or a gold Buffalo, but I like to logo and still have my old Jersey.

Below are two examples one black and one white on Hasek... Not bad

No. No more Elmer's Glue logo, no more slug, no. Charging buffalo, crossed sabres, that's it.

(Typed while wearing a now "old-school" red third sweater.)

If they went with their current third jersey as their main design, I'd be happy as a clam. That's all that EVER needed to be updated from their originals. I never liked the old road blue jerseys, the blue was hideous. The darker blue they use now looks terrific. Go back to the original whites for road jerseys, and who the heck cares what the third jersey becomes.

OK, now you may think I'm kidding or even crazy, but how about a variation in colors on the old Buffalo Bisons minor hockey league logo (I've attached two examples). I know the Bisons aren't the Sabres and that they we're a minor league team but I personally like this logo and what the heck, let the Sabres set a precedent for what a third jersey can be! Plus, it's still a Buffalo thing and the Bisons had some pretty good players from their time on that team: Jacques Plante, Toe Blake, Brad Park, Gilles Villemure and Guy Trottier (ref: http://www.buffalosportsmuseum.com/Page_2.php ).

What say thee?

That's fantastic. I would 100% be on board with that.
