CallawaySabres Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Now that was FREAKIN'FUN!!!!! Whoohoo!!!! Suck it Habs fans and stop cryin' on all the penalty calls....
Alaska Darin Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Nice night. Sabres win. Bruins/Senators/Montreal all lose.
wjag Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 What a wild game.. glad I watched that one..
BuffalOhio Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 What a wild game.. glad I watched that one.. Me, too. Thanks for posting the link. Wish I'd known about that one in English! I listened to RJ and Harry at the same time, but it was about 2 minutes behind, just so I could hear their calls.
LabattBlue Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Game thoughts... - Bad PK for the 2nd game in a row. On the 1st one, Connolly and Pominville were caught by the blue line allowing the cross ice pass. On the 2nd one, neither Tallinder or Myers covering the man in front. - Miller with a GREAT game winning save! - Kaleta and Kennedy add true meaning to "BUFFALO beats Montreal". - Connolly had a nice assist on the SHG, but otherwise had another ho-hum performance. - Is River starting to look better without Butler as his partner? GO SABRES!!!
Eleven Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 If a doctor ever told me I had 6 months to live, I'd spend most of it killing off 5 on 3 penalties (2 man down, whatever) for the Sabres. Time moves slower, I swear. If I had a Montreal doctor, I'd be given another 6 months. Sig of the month.
North Buffalo Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Nice game, even the refs knew this one was over, but I can't believe the first penalty call looked like a dive to me. The high stick was legit and it looked like Lydman had another bad game... Blind passes to nowhere.
Two or less Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Myers TOI 28:07. Crazy good game by Myers and a career high in minutes. You guys notice, when the PP began with 2:00, Myers stayed on the ice until the whistle blew with 0:19? Myers and Hecht couldn't get off, while Hank and Connolly left for Sekera and Roy, both were stuck. Myers was still throwing his body around and getting in front of the net to allow Miller a good view of the puck. The kid is something special.
Mbossy Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Killer Instinct. They had it this game. Hard fought Hard Fight. Work through the bad calls. Score the sloppies. and MILLER!!!!!! I'm burnin' this one to DVD.
Stoner Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Watched the postgame show on RDS. Six years of French... I got nothing here. Cool set. Our postgame show needs a total re-do.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Nice win, I too was stuck watching the French feed and trying to work at the same time ... but I saw enough to know they'd have to kill a penalty after MacArthur scored ... could not have predicted the clock debacle .... Maybe I am late to the party on this one, but I was just listening to the WGR postgame and Kaleta just referred to MacArthur as "Griz" ... as in Clark W. Griswald, I assume. I love it ... my new favorite nickname on the team.
spndnchz Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Great game. had to resist FF through it, got back late. I thought Hecht played a great game among others already mentioned.
carpandean Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Wow, just wow! If Myers keep playing more and more minutes, we'll be able to dress more forwards. Just rotate Myer's partner for 60 minutes.
jwcolour Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Nice game, even the refs knew this one was over, but I can't believe the first penalty call looked like a dive to me. The high stick was legit and it looked like Lydman had another bad game... Blind passes to nowhere. Standard.
repster Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Looks like we won't have to worry about Spezza on Wednesday... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=302380
wjag Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Just Cause: 1. Two SHGs in two games. I'm practically out of my mind in delight. 2. Listening to the game in French was okay. I learned that 'long pass' in French is 'long pass' 3. Favorite French penalty: Rudesse 4. This game went from tightly contested to frenetic in a heartbeat last night. Might be the most entertaining third period of the season. 5. Buffalo still undefeated when leading after two. Although last night sure put that record at risk. 6. Someone explain the rules to me. Roy and Metropolit went off for penalties. Next thing I know, two Canadiens are shown in the box making it a 4 on 3 (Metroploit drew two penalties, roughing and slashing). Pomminvile gets hit with a high stick and it becomes a 5 on 3. The high sticking penalty was 37 seconds after the Roy/Metropolit penalties. How do you go from 4 on 3 to 5 on 3? What's the rule there? 7. I was all over the clock not starting from the get go. I counted with my son on the replay. It was stuck for a good 12 seconds. That has to be one embarassed time keeper. 8. Vanek and Stafford were invisible last night. 9. MacArthur with another one. Who'd believe he'd be leading the team in goals? This is a crazy year statistic-wise. 10. A 5 on 3 and a SHG goals in same game.. The stars were aligned in Montreal last night. Let's hope they have some answer for Wednesday's kryptonite.

They can't go to 4-on-2, so the Sabres got to put an extra man on the ice. Also: 8. The Versus post-game team credited Vanek with creating the space needed for the winning goal by standing in the crease and tiring out the defenseman. They may be right.
Wraith Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Also: 8. The Versus post-game team credited Vanek with creating the space needed for the winning goal by standing in the crease and tiring out the defenseman. They may be right. Yeah, Vanek has a great game last night. I'm not sure how anyone could think he was invisible. He also had a couple of excellent keep in's at the blue line, something you rarely see from him because that's not where he normally stationed. On the game winning goal, Hal Gill basically had him in a sleeper hold and Vanek fought it off and held his ground and the cross ice pass went right by Gill. Gill then had the audacity to complain about interference.
matter2003 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Yeah, Vanek has a great game last night. I'm not sure how anyone could think he was invisible. On the game winning goal, he was Hal Gill basically had him in a sleeper hold and Vanek fought it off and held his ground the cross ice pass went right by Gill. Must have thought he was back at the team hotel with his roommate...
matter2003 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Great night yesterday...Sabres win and the next 3 teams chasing them all lose in regulation...
Kristian Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Really nice win. A little loosy-goosy in the giveaway department overall I think, and some positioning issues, but those Canadiens do have some good skaters on that team. Still I think the Sabres managed to keep them away from quality chances most of the time, and the only time they seemed dangerous to me were on the PP. Some so-so calls on the two Habs PP goals, mostly on the second one though, I but I also a saw a hold on Vanek called that the refs will let slip 95% of the time.
Kristian Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Yeah, Vanek has a great game last night. I'm not sure how anyone could think he was invisible. On the game winning goal, he was Hal Gill basically had him in a sleeper hold and Vanek fought it off and held his ground the cross ice pass went right by Gill. Gill then had the audacity to complain about interference. Yeah, Vanek interfered with him trying to impersonate his coat. Nice one, Hal. I give him grief sometimes, but this is where having Vanek on the ice is important, even if he isn't scoring or making plays. Gill was so tied up with him, trying to keep him away from the crease he forgot about everything else.
Buffalo Wings Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 Yeah, Vanek has a great game last night. I'm not sure how anyone could think he was invisible. On the game winning goal, he was Hal Gill basically had him in a sleeper hold and Vanek fought it off and held his ground the cross ice pass went right by Gill. Gill then had the audacity to complain about interference. The VS announcers were saying that the Habs were complaining of something...the replay showed Gill mugging Vanek in front of the net. Didn't look like Vanek did anything, except for his job. I think Gill wanted another homer call. The too many men wasn't enough. I continue to be impressed by John Forslund and Daryl Reaugh. They do their required sucking-up that comes with a national broadcast, but Reaugh gives it to you straight and Forslund just calls the game. Reaugh was almost beside himself on the "too many men" penalty.
