SDS Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 I thought it was uncalled for and I referred to the fans as morons in the GDT, but to each their own. Maybe it was uncalled for, but why are they morons? Regardless of what went down that night, it was an ugly incident that most feel probably could have been avoided. Some people took to time to remind Kane of that. I don't see what the big deal is.
JujuFish Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 I believe my usage was correct. I wasn't showing possession but rather delineating a phrase. Did you miss the first one? Or was your point that even as written, it's still incorrect? I posted that comic for the OP.

Agree completely. Next time they boo him, and they will, they deserve the moron tag. The kid acted like an ass, showed little remorse, and should take some heat.
LabattBlue Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Maybe it was uncalled for, but why are they morons? Just the way I characterize them. Booing the best young player to ever come out of WNY is uncalled for IMO.
inkman Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Just the way I characterize them. Booing the best young player to ever come out of WNY is uncalled for IMO. Nothing wrong with the fans letting him know he shouldn't #%^$#! where he eats. I think most of the booing comes from idiots I'd rather never know.
VansTheMans Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Was at the game. There were lots of boo's every time Campbell or Kane touched the puck. I felt it was uncalled for, but whatever. Booing Campbell is dumb, and the boos most likely only came from those who despised him while he was here. Booing Kane makes a bit more sense, but is still rather childish. Not to defend him, but c'mon. He's a young kid, born and raised in SOUTH BUFFALO (that should give you a clue as to his surroundings). He's bound to make some stupid mistakes while drinking. I didn't boo, but as Paul Hamilton said on WGR post game, if the fans want to boo, they have every right to. They're paying money to be there, and as long as they aren't overly obnoxious or threatening those around them, they have every right to voice their displeasure (however misguided it may be).

Whoa, dude - I'm from the South Buffalo area and still live close-by. Be careful about painting every South Buffalonian with that brush. I'm sure that East Amherst has its share of drunken slackers......
Sabre Dance Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 By the way, I heard no mention of the Montreal fans continuing to boo Rivet every time he touches the puck. He left Montreal quite a while ago...kind of makes Habs fans look petty, eh?

He left Montreal quite a while ago...kind of makes Habs fans look petty, eh? True. But it's hard to pick on them given how passionate they are. It's unbelievable. The masses out of their seats on every goal. The Go Habs Go after opponents score. What always strikes me is how few fans leave their seats during action. And they get back to their seats in a hurry for the start of a period. What's their beef with Rivet anyway? It can't be just the fact he once played there.

The story I read is that at one point the fans starting booing their captain (which must have been Koivu at that point). Rivet spoke up against it, so they started booing him too.

Hmm...so it's acceptible for Habs fans to boo Rivet three seasons later for sticking up for his captain because they are passionate, but booing Kane for participating in an assault on a man twice his age is embarrassing to Sabres' fans? I'm still working through the logic on that one....

I'm still working through the logic on that one.... I didn't say I accepted it. I said it's hard to pick on them for doing it -- given how they are overwhelmingly supportive otherwise. As opposed to Sabre fans, who love to boo and otherwise sit on their hands.
MattPie Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 They are French Canadiens. Didn't they want to secede from the rest of Canada at one point? No further explanation needed. I think they still do try to secede from time to time, but the vote always ends up around 51/49 against. But help me out here, how does wanting to secede from the rest of Canada (who don't share a language nor a common cultural heritage) have anything to do booing at a hockey game?
Sabre Dance Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 They are French Canadiens. Didn't they want to secede from the rest of Canada at one point? No further explanation needed. That may just be the truth! Anyway, it's holiday season...no more boos, just some more booze! (But take a cab after!! No DUI, please!)
Taro T Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 They are French Canadiens. Didn't they want to secede from the rest of Canada at one point? No further explanation needed. How can you hold that against them? I'd like to split NY right around Orange County. In some warped way does that mean I can't laugh at/ boo/ etc Avery? Or if we have to keep this Sabre specific, Boulton?
