Sorry for jumping the gun on this one, was up early and can't wait for the game!

First game of the season against that pissy lot.. am hoping someone paints a big fat bullseye on Gaborik's jersey for Kaleta to take potshots at all game long!

Butler is going to be out for sometime, no timetable yet for return.

Go Sabres!!

The Rangers are just awful, but when ever we are playing a team has The guy or The line, that guy or line always kills us (think Ottawa or the SE division). It's another of Lindy's flaws, but for that reason alone, I don't feel good about this game.

A good pasting of Gaborik would be just fine, but I was really wishing to see Gomez have a faceful of plexi-glass the other night.

A strong win and let's have 5 in a row!

Lindy said yesterday there was a game involving Gaborik a few years ago where he had 10 scoring chances by himself!

So far as I know, this should be a home game for us. This should bode well for the Sabres (theoretically).

Could be a fairly even game with "intangibles" being the difference between the two teams! :D

[Lips moving out of sync with words]

Their Drury-style intangibles are strong, but our Grier-style intangibles will defeat them!!

I think the Rangers are the only team I just can't stand. Them bringing in that bag of sh** Avery was the last straw.

Go Sabres!

Really? Worse than the Sens or Cryers?

i don't understand the hate for gaborik, he's done pretty much nothing besides be a really great player. He leads the NHL in goals and is second only to Joe Thornton in points. So some respect please. It's going to be a challange for whatever line is charged with stopping him.

I agree. He has no history with the Sabres that I can recall. Sup with the hating..

Gaborik, meet Kaleta...

How about "Avery, meet Kaleta..."? As it is, there are a lot of other teams who can't stand Kaleta because of his reputation for being an agitator. It's only fair if Kaleta could stir things up with Avery. That would be worth watching.

As it is, I haven't known Gaborik for being the type that can get under other teams' skin, so I'm in agreement with gregkash and wjag on this one.

I've always enjoyed watching Gaborik... I think the hate just stems from him being the newest hotshot for the rangers to up.

...and another stellar player the Wizard of Oz didn't go after to boost the team. <_<

CDX beat me to it. I don't like the rangers either, but they're way behind Philly & Ottawa.

Would you really have wanted the Sabres to spend $7.5MM x 5 years on a guy who gets hurt as much as Connolly does?

Oops! I missed that one. Good point.

Nonetheless, it seems to me and a few others on here that the FO (including the Wizard of Oz) could have done more to either acquire quality players or keep them. Wouldn't you agree with this assessment, or am I stretching things here a bit?

Dude...C'mon!!! We are leading the division and have a great record! The FO locked up the so called "core". Got some leadership in Rivet, Grier, Montador...Let's just enjoy this, they seem to have that killer instinct in games they should put away.

4-2 Sabres.

I agree. No one here expected this record at this point. We all thought they would be anywhere from 8th to 11th place.

Yah. I have to say that at this point in the season they're achieving above my more idealistic expectations. I just hope we haven't seen the best of what the newly formed lines have to offer. The upside for those lines is particularly juicy if everyone comes to play every night. The latter being the difference between a good team and a great team now.
