wildcat48 Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Theme of the day is a simplified game for the Pirates Published on: 19th April, 2010 by Chris Roy The theme from the Portland Pirates after practice this morning at Portland Ice Arena is they need to simplify their game, and get more pucks on Monarchs’ goalie Jonathan Bernier. The Pirates head to the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester tonight for Game 3 of their Atlantic Division semifinal down 2-0 in the best-of-seven series against the Monarchs knowing they need to start scoring if they want to see another game at the Cumberland County Civic Center. wildcat48 Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 Pirates have their backs against the wall Published on: 19th April, 2010 by Chris Roy Manchester, NH – The Portland Pirates are playing for tomorrow, literally, with their backs against the wall. Bud Holloway scored two minutes into overtime, giving the Manchester Monarchs a 2-1 victory before 2,130 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Game 3 of the Atlantic Division semifinal. Link>>>>
LabattBlue Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 For a team that has a large veteran presence, I wouldn't think that goal scoring would be a problem. Lamoureux has filled in admirably for the Pirates giving up 7 goals in 3 playoff games. So what are guys like Mancari and Gerbe going to do for the Sabres in terms of scoring, when they can't even find success in the AHL playoffs?

Not to mention that 7 consecutive playoff losses can't look good for Dineen. This team has been well stocked for AHL success with the veteran AHL players(Cowan, Larsen, McCormick), players that look like AHL stars(Mancari, Gragnani, Whitmore and Gerbe) and some good young NHL prospects (Kennedy, Weber, Brennan, Enroth) and it hasn't had any playoff success.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Portland got blown out by Manchester 7-2. Pirates swept 4-0. Portland goaltending was abysmal. Ford got the hook after a 4-goal 2nd period and the backup sieve from the ECHL gave up 3 more softees. Darcy Regier and 2 other Sabres officials were there in what is referred to as the "lake house", the VIP suite for visiting team officials. PTR
wildcat48 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Pirates’ season comes to an abrupt end Published on: 20th April, 2010 by Chris Roy Manchester, NH – It’s over… Just like that in a matter of days, the Portland Pirates were bounced out of the playoffs after the Manchester Monarchs defeated them, 7-2, in front 2,136 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Calvin Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Ouch! Maybe it is not yet time for Dineen to move on to the NHL then?
wildcat48 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Not so fast NHL... Dineen is enjoying life in Portland
