Taro T Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Just cause: ... 9. God forbid if there is ever an emergency in HSBC. Getting out of the 300s takes a long time. There doesn't appear to be enough egress capacity to get people out of the building fast. ... Nice job Sabres!!! The only reason there doesn't seem to be enough egress capacity is 90% of the people up there insist on using the escalators to get down to street level. There are probably 12 stairways up there that will get you down in no time flat.
Stoner Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I'm not so sure on Connolly. Take a look at the stories of the reaction from other players last year when he re-signed. He is someone most of the Sabres love having around. Whether it's a leadership thing, I don't know, but it says something. I was going to mention the reaction to Connolly's re-signing. Given all of the injuries Connolly has fought back from, I don't know how he's not a leader. Again, I challenge the definition of leadership. An offensive player scoring 40 goals, or putting up a point a game, is also leadership. You want 19 Rivets and Griers? Welcome to the first pick.
Stoner Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 It probably was this guy named Ruff that lit the fire.... Lindy said in his presser he didn't say much during the intermission.
Stoner Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Is that...optimism? And even with Lindy holding them back? When it comes to players Ruff doesn't coach, I am optimistic.
carpandean Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Miller given the HON (highlight of the night) by TSN.ca for what they called a "save of the year candidate."
Calvin Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Miller given the HON (highlight of the night) by TSN.ca for what they called a "save of the year candidate." Agreed.. wow.. he never took his eyes off the puck, and he does have amazing hand-eye co-ordination.. Missed the game last night.. saw 0-1 end of second period and was telling myself that i was glad i missed the game.. then got home to see 5-1!! Keep the momentum up.. physical game coming up against the Leaves..

I'll go along with this, but it's important to remember that at the time he re-signed, the rest of the guys had watched Briere, Drury, Soupy and Dumont stroll out the door (and Max fall completely off the table) and take a lot of the offense with them. TC was one of the remaining guys who could help light the lamp. I can also see him as a fun goofball who's always up for going out, boozing and meeting women. So, my theory goes, they like having him around but that doesn't mean he's a team leader in the sense of getting the most out of his teammates. 1. How many times does this team give up a quality chance on the PP? Seems like they give up a very dangerous opportunity to the other team frequently. That save Miller made on the PP last night was out of his mind, insanely good. Good call.

And Carolina scored moments after a Buffalo power play expired. Lindy doesn't think there's a big problem with the power play. I guess that's why the hard-hitting Buffalo media hasn't been talking about it.
Figster Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I've been watching most of the games via streaming so I've been few and far between on posts here at the Aud because I simply can't observe the game as good as most of you. One thing I have noticed having to listen to other commentators from other Cities on occasion is how much notice folks have taken to Tyler Myers throughout the league. Everyone's ranting and raving about this kid like we are, probably more, its unbelievable and so is he. We really got us something special with this Tyler Myers fella
bob_sauve28 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 That seals it. I can no longer be a Ryan Miller hater. He was out of his mind tonight and has been stellar this season. Give me an effort from the rest of the team that was as good as Miller's and this is a playoff contender. He did something Hasek never did, got a standing ovation during our power play. Doesn't reflect well on the rest of the team but there it is anyway

There are probably 12 stairways up there that will get you down in no time flat. Any time I'm in that arena, I'm there with my dad. He really can't handle that many stairs (well, maybe now that he's a year removed from a knee replacement, he can). I'm always one of those people who has to wait in that escalator jam up. I'll go along with this, but it's important to remember that at the time he re-signed, the rest of the guys had watched Briere, Drury, Soupy and Dumont stroll out the door (and Max fall completely off the table) and take a lot of the offense with them. That's definitely possible but the reaction seemed like a genuine "we love this guy".
Stoner Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Ruff bumped Vanek to a line with Kennedy and Grier. I wonder if it could stick. Ruff, after all, once said Vanek could be the top two-way forward in the NHL, so he could fit on a checking line. It might get him going. I'm starting to think some of the top 6 needs to get out of their comfort zone.

I'm starting to think some of the top 6 needs to get out of their comfort zone. Vanek played very well on the 3rd line with Grier and Kennedy. I've been clamoring to put Vanek with Grier for quite some time. I'd like Lindy to let this stick for a few games and see where it goes. With Vanek on the 3rd line, we now have 3 scoring lines again. Grier can clear the space for Vanek to get open, and Kennedy can do the same. Kennedy is a decent playmaker, and both him and Grier are willing to go into dirty areas. Let them open the ice up for Vanek, and the goals will come. By having 3 scoring lines (that also have some grit), we'll stretch our opponents defense thin, opening up more scoring opportunities. This could be a huge, huge deal. And Carolina scored moments after a Buffalo power play expired. Lindy doesn't think there's a big problem with the power play. I guess that's why the hard-hitting Buffalo media hasn't been talking about it. And PA, I agree. There is something VERY wrong with our power play. We are sorely missing a PPQB dman, but I don't see one of those coming anytime soon. I really liked when Lindy put Goose and Vanek on the same PP together. Goose took the front of the net, giving Vanek a little more breathing room out front to net in rebounds. When Gaustad returns, I'd like to see Lindy get that PP unit back together.

Not real surprising given how Miller's playing, but still full credit to Lindy. PK has been almost a perennial strength of his teams.

It seems like they've been killing everything since the start of the year. They've made a lot of PP looks as foolish as ours does.

By my quick count, here's how the PK breaks down by goalie: Miller: 7 goals allowed in 69 times short (89.9%) Lalime: 4 goals allowed in 12 times short (66.7%) Enroth: 2 goals allowed in 3 times short (33.3%)
