R_Dudley Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Okay Timmy you are da man... One more time after the peanlty kill please.. All righty then now that my powers of prediction are working for good instead of evil time for Thomas to get off the Snied and get a goal here at garbage time... Note Goose not returning the way he was owning faceoff's only bad karma here in the second half. Go Bflo
... Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 A couple of quick observations - listen to how loud the arena music is. It's never that loud during HSBC feeds. +1 for the microphone theory. Most of the top six have heard the get-the-puck-to-the-net message for this game, at least. Pominville and Roy HAVE NOT - clearly. Pommer's decision making has been piss poor, and he needs to come up with a shot other than the slap shot right on. Try the wrister, JJ.
PromoTheRobot Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 How many chances are we going to give the Flyers? PTR
Eleven Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 It's over. Good. Now, what the hell happened to Gaustad and Rivet? (edit...To me, it looked like a groin or lower sacrum problem w/ Rivet.)
roth7849 Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 It looked like Rivet just got rattled a bit, that's normally not a hit you'd see.. it was just awkward. I bet you it was just a groin hit.. It looked like Gaustad might have a hip injury or something...
Hawerchuk Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 You can finish your check and still board someone. So he was just tossed for this game only? Great win today!!
R_Dudley Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 It's over. Good. Now, what the hell happened to Gaustad and Rivet? (edit...To me, it looked like a groin or lower sacrum problem w/ Rivet.) Yeah that's the only downer after this nice strong road game. Defintely does not look good to have either of those guy's back tomorrow. I wonder who if any will be called up. Will Miller play again or am I doomed to see Lalime at home tomorrow.
Calvin Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 they did not make that easy in the end.. but a good effort nonetheless.. RJ is right on though, not too many teams will go to Philly and win 2-2 in the Flyers' insane asylum..
darksabre Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 It always feels good to beat Philly in front of their douchebag fans. I hope Rivet and Goose are okay. I'm not hopeful about Rivet though, that spill looked nasty. Solid effort by Connolly and MacArthur. Please do that more often???
PromoTheRobot Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 I think Rivet broke his ankle. I've seen guys do that before just that way. Your skate gets caught and you fall awkwardly. Let's hope I'm wrong. PTR
roth7849 Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Nevermind i take back my previous statement, Lindy just reported that in the case of Gaustad and Rivet it was a leg injury on both and it'll be a "while" on both of them. Amount of time not specified.

I just said the same thing out loud before I opened this thread back up...I think we are doomed, this seems like a good game to play Lalime. Hopefully, if they do, they give him some offense. In my two game weekend with the Sabres and the Bills, I want to go at least 1-for-2.

Amount of time not specified. Rivet is not a huge loss, IMO...he has been one of our worst D-men...Gaustad will hurt a bit though. Will be interested to see who, if anyone, they bring up. Maybe Mancari? Seems like the same type of player.
roth7849 Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Oh Lalime, Thinking about the fifteen games or so he's required to play makes me wince. It's not just that he's not a goalie anywhere near Miller's standards, it's that the boys don't play as well in front of him. We could definitely use a better backup.
CallawaySabres Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 First time in my 30 plus years of watching Bills and Sabres that I have botched the time of a game...never saw one second. I went to check this board to see some game notes and was like wow, 5 pages before game starts....people are fired up. Sounds like great win!!!!
Stoner Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 I liked Gaustad up with Hecht and Grier. Made sense. For awhile anyway. Kind of a shame to be knocked out of the lineup on a check delivered on no one. On Rivet's spill, it looked like the Flyer put his stick on Rivet's skate. Given the events of the game, I wouldn't be shocked to learn it was deliberate. Loved Miller at the end. Hated how soft on the puck the Sabres were 10 feet from the blue line. Yikes.

He hasn't been so bad in the games he's played this season - don't know why they called Ennis up that one time.
spndnchz Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 it's something i've noticed the last few games.. whenever the puck's in front of the other team's goal and players are scrumming, it looks like the Sabres are overpursuing, so you get situations where after a shot three players are all behind the goal, and the puck is just sitting in the blue ice or just beyond.. True dat. I  Kennedy this game. He's gonna have to take a long shower to get that Hartnell smell off of him.

Stoner Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 So he was just tossed for this game only? Great win today!! So far, just this game. I'd be shocked if he was suspended.
Stoner Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 because no one saw it... Dude went to the penalty box. lmao
mercury Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 This is a true must win. No. Had the Sabres lost today, they would not have been eliminated.
... Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Stafford was hurt, I think. Right, but they called up Ennis rather than play Paestch.

He hasn't been so bad in the games he's played this season - don't know why they called Ennis up that one time. Player for player. Stafford was out and they wanted a "top six forward" type to replace him. I'd think they'd pull up McCormick for Goose.
... Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 So far, just this game. I'd be shocked if he was suspended. It shouldn't have been a penalty in the first place. He was playing the dude with the puck, the dude was spinning when he was hit and happened to hit the glass with his face. Then, of course, players are getting wise and staying down after a hit like that. I think this was more than likely the case here.
