Barnabov Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 Just want some bloody goals here. I'm on board with calling up Ennis. The kid is slick. Not a fan of Hecht. He skates, he checks but what about that $3.8 million. What has he done to earn it? It's not even close in my mind. He's the Sabres version of Gary Matthews Jr. I've been less than impressed with Pominville too. He takes too many shots from long range and none of em go in. It's a bit frustrating to watch Kaleta because he can get open, but the kid has stone hands. I still think they should have waived Hecht instead of Mair or at least tried to dump him for a Paille type return. He just seems to be a waste of a roster space a quarter of the way into the season. I'd rather see Ennis or Gerbe get the minutes.

Nobody would have given a Paille-type return for Hecht because of his contract. He may be a better player than Danny, but Danny came with a one-year, $1.014 million (cap; salary is $1.35 million) contract, as compared to Hecht's three-year (left), $3.525 million cap hit (salaries of $3.8, $3.5 and $3.0 million) contract. Darcy would have had to give something of value (picks/prospects) along with Hecht to get anyone to take him off his hands.
wjag Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Playing kryptonite tonight. Missed the last two. Did go to American Airlines Arena in Dallas and watch the Blue Jackets kick the snot out of Dallas. Had like 80+ minutes of penalties, one game misconduct and an almost goalie fight
Calvin Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 cue the Rivet-bashing.. careless penalty that
notwoz Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Hecht has been fine. Agreed -- Hecht is not the problem. What are Vanek (6 goals) and Connolly (16 points) doing to earn their money.
wjag Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Looks like the same old Buf-Ott game so far..
Calvin Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Looks like the same old Buf-Ott game so far.. did the Sabres just get slightly more physical the last couple of minutes?
R_Dudley Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 whoa there, quite the storm they are weathering there in the first few minutes in our zone and some fine saves by Patty.
notwoz Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 no Buffalo SOGs in first 6.30 of game Haven't been able to get near the TV -- why no SOGs? Sens playing tough defense, or is Lindy double-shifting Vanek
TheChimp Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 This Sekera-at-Forward experiment must really please Paetsch. And it's working out so well, too. When will Lindy realize, Sekera blows no matter what position he's playing?
wjag Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Haven't been able to get near the TV -- why no SOGs? Sens playing tough defense, or is Lindy double-shifting Vanek They've evened it up at 4 each, but Ottawa is owning the zonal play
TheChimp Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Which Sabre just took a flying leap and hit his own player? Seriously, is this what we've become? This game is laughable already.
Calvin Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Yikes.. Myers is having a very poor first game against the Sens.. he better get used to some of these guys quick.
wjag Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 No goal on the PP but great zone control and chances... Lalime has 30 shutouts as a Senator! He likes playing here and looks good so far..
TheChimp Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Holy God these Cellino and Barnes inserts are stupid as hell.
wjag Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 I don't know what Lindy put in their Gatorade, but these Sabres are owning the SOG now..
ROC Sabres Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Montador should take more shots from center ice. He is more accurate from there than at the point as of late.
wjag Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Buffalo PP .. Lee tripped Kennedy Vanek gets a rebound from the blue line shot Buffalo: :worthy: Ottawa:
R_Dudley Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Watching this now last several games Buffalo seems to have more pucks jump over their sticks than any team they are playing. Makes we wonder if they know how to use their sticks to properly receive a pass or are they using some crappy sticks. Some juicy rebounds tonight, there's a strategy there and as I'm typing Vanek makes it happen..... Yeah....
Calvin Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Buffalo PP .. Lee tripped Kennedy Vanek gets a rebound from the blue line shot Buffalo: :worthy: Ottawa: Vanek move to Stafford's spot and Goose to Vanek's on the PP??
TheChimp Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Gaustad AND Vanek on the same PP unit? Is Lindy actually doing that finally? yayyy :D
notwoz Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Vanek got the goal, but it looked like Goose did all the work
