carpandean Posted January 14, 2010 Author Report Posted January 14, 2010 Best I could do for now: By the way, if you select a series and choose "paste as picture" (after creating a smaller version), then you get logos for data markers like I did with the Sabres. (Cereal: I used to know MATLAB about a decade ago and keep meaning to get back into it.)

It *is* the official logo for the team. :)

It looks kind of cool with the Sabre logo though.

cdexchange Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Nice job Carp, so much easier not having to keep checking the key every two seconds..
carpandean Posted January 15, 2010 Author Report Posted January 15, 2010 Color coded the lines on the NE/EC/Playoff charts. Also, added Atlanta's logo. Not sure how I missed them. Seems like with the exception of a few teams, nobody wants in the playoffs this year.
wjag Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Very nice. It was a tongue and cheek comment made, but those icons made the graph. Much easier to comprehend. Got to love that NE one. There is a gulf between 1st and 2nd.

Knightrider Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 These are great! You truly outdid yourself!
carpandean Posted January 17, 2010 Author Report Posted January 17, 2010 There is officially a cluster f**k going on for the bottom playoff spots. Currently, eight teams are buzzing around those final three spots and the Bruins, in fifth, are just slightly ahead of that group. Side note: always intended to do something like this, too.
carpandean Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 I'm such a nerd. About halfway into the third, I was thinking about how nice this update was going to be. I always enjoy doing them, but some days are just a little more fun.

... Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 The charts look awesome! The graphs AND the data.
... Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Side note: always intended to do something like this, too. Now those stats came become addicting. They're giving the Sabres the third best chance of ending the regular season within the top three. Statistically speaking, they're near tied for third place with the Devils right now, but also stand a good chance of taking over second place overall. That's pretty hot.
darksabre Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 This year's team is starting to buck the typical trends as of late. It should be fun to see how they close out the season. B-)
MattPie Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Thanks for the updated charts with the colors and logos, it's even better now! :) Now, we just need to get it pinned so we can easily reference it every morning-after.

inkman Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 5th - 13th place are separated by 8 points! Going to be a tight race for the bottom seeds, hopefully Buffalo doesn't fall back to the pack.
carpandean Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Seems like maybe I pissed somebody off upstairs by posting here only when they are doing well. This is clearly not one of those times. Edit: oops, double counted the two early games. Ottawa certainly doesn't need my help to win another one.
darksabre Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Interesting to see the Sabres fall off a bit on this western conference road trip, and the Sens and Montreal gaining a little ground. The Northeast could get interesting.
carpandean Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Interesting to see the Sabres fall off a bit on this western conference road trip, and the Sens and Montreal gaining a little ground. The Northeast could get interesting. Those three games-in-hand are important. For equal games played, the Sabres are still 13 ahead of Ottawa. However, Ottawa banked six in those three extra games. If the Sabres can get some points in those three, then their cushion is still pretty large. However, if they don't, then the Sens are right back in it. They are against the Canucks, Devils and Bruins, so not an easy task. Of course, the upcoming "four-point game" against the Sens will be huge.
