grelit Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Looks like Sabres fans that were hoping Patrick Kane would be available in a few years are out of luck... http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=298728
Mbossy Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Letting Campbell go back then seems soooo much better now. Agreed they can't let these players go, but the NHL is going to be looking close at these contracts.

You knew it wouldn't take long. It pisses me off to no end.

nobody Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 When the time comes, however many years from now, they will just dump some of these players in the minors if needed. Bigger market teams can afford to do that.

As you know, the NHL is looking at "tagging room" issues going forward. Teams would be looked at if they sign players and go over next years perceived cap.
shrader Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 As you know, the NHL is looking at "tagging room" issues going forward. Teams would be looked at if they sign players and go over next years perceived cap. And they haven't actually signed anyone yet. They could just as easily have an understanding with all of them that they have to move someone before it is made official. Taking a quick look at their numbers for next year, they'll be fine as of today, they'll just need to do something in the future in order to fill out an entire roster though. GMs around the league are probably drooling at the thought that they can raid that roster or get some cheap trades.
