Bigthuder1636 Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I have no idea what kind of paper this is or how much stock to put in it but it was linked in the ESPN rumors section so I thought I would pass it along. "Back to Buffalo? The future of Islanders G Martin Biron remains up in the air. There’s no timetable on when G Rick DiPietro’s will return from injury, but the belief is he could be back soon. League sources say the Kings have looked at the possibility of bringing in Biron to lend support to G Jonathan Quick. A more plausible scenario is that Biron will end back with the Sabres to back up G Ryan Miller." Link to Article Link
shrader Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Hasn't Garrioch had a reputation of being almost Eklundian in the rumor mongering department? Anyway, this one just looks like he's just slow to pick up on the fan speculation that was going on around here a week or two ago.
inkman Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Would anyone trade Enroth straight up for Biron? (assuming the Sabres could work the salary under the cap)
nfreeman Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Would anyone trade Enroth straight up for Biron? (assuming the Sabres could work the salary under the cap) Not without a 3-yr extension on marty's contract, which isn't going to happen because Marty wants to be a starter somewhere.
Mbossy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I don't see the Isles getting rid of Biron that easy. They can well afford to keep him around until they get a great offer. They are well under the cap (around 4+million). It would be risky for the Isles to extend his contract to make him better bait. They might end up stuck with a Yashin look a like.
jimiVbaby Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Would anyone trade Enroth straight up for Biron? (assuming the Sabres could work the salary under the cap) Nope. Enroth still has real value and should be able to net you a serious player when packaged with a roster player.

Kind of like the episode of M*A*S*H where Hawkeye starts a rumor that Marilyn Monroe is coming to visit - harmless until a general cancels R & R to come and meet Marilyn. Oh, those rumors...... Hey, I heard that when Rick Jeanneret retires, Gil Perreault is going to take over and sing the play-by-play.......
johnnychemo Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I can't see the Isles keeping a third goaltender on their roster...it's a waste of a slot.
Mbossy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I can't see the Isles keeping a third goaltender on their roster...it's a waste of a slot. Only a waste until Ricky's got some splainin' to do when he busts his hip again.

Two or less Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Would anyone trade Enroth straight up for Biron? (assuming the Sabres could work the salary under the cap) No. I would trade Gerbe and Lalime for Biron though. Gerbe's value is much higher then Biron's, but, they would be eating Lalime's salary.

Your first point is very true. I think some people think if the Sabres want Biron, they can simply ship a fourth-rounder to the Isles for him. It won't be that simple. Who knows how the market will play out, but he could be (assuming he's available) one of the most coveted players on the market.
LabattBlue Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I would trade Gerbe and Lalime for Biron though. Gerbe's value is much higher then Biron's, but, they would be eating Lalime's salary. Even a bigger NO!
darksabre Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Even a bigger NO! How about Gerbe for Biron and a 2nd or 3rd rounder?
LabattBlue Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 How about Gerbe for Biron and a 2nd or 3rd rounder? Hmmm....
Eleven Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 You mean Tim Connolly? Wow. And I was going to give PA the "nicely done." Damn, you tied it all together.
SwampD Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Wow. And I was going to give PA the "nicely done." Damn, you tied it all together. Kind of a stretch but I knew someone would get it. Knowing his feelings about Timmy, I thought it would be deluca.

inkman Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Watching that hit again, it's absolutely disgusting. He comes at him from 8 o'clock (think where the number is on the clock) and his elbow ends up in the rafters after the hit. This is exactly the type of hit the league needs to eliminate. Complete intent to injure.
Stoner Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Kind of a stretch but I knew someone would get it. Knowing his feelings about Timmy, I thought it would be deluca. I didn't get it. :)
