Figster Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Do you mean a specific Sabre tormenting the team? Otherwise, there's always , of which I never, ever, ever will tire. I wasn't sure myself, but Kaleta sure reminds my of Vasclav's nasty nature.
Stoner Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 OK, why did DirecTV cut off the postgame show? I called to complain -- these people are clueless.
Stoner Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Nice to see they survived a SHG.... Who did that go off? Nice bank shot.
notwoz Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 OK, why did DirecTV cut off the postgame show? I called to complain -- these people are clueless. Directv customer service is almost as bad as Verizon's customer service -- it's neck and neck. But the main problem is that the Sabres are an orphan team, TV-wise, ever since the Rigas family went to jail. The Sabres had to sign on with MSG just to get on TV and the the folks at MSG obviously won't give the Sabres the time of day. If only we could turn back the clock and bring back Empire Sports.
wjag Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Pitt tied the game with 0.4 seconds left.. Going to OT. If you are not watching Pit-Bos you should be...
tulax Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Tim Connolly overall has had a decent start all things considered. He just has one of them games every once in awhile that just makes you say WTF. Stats wise, he is off to a great start. You can't take 15 points in 16 games away from him. However, he has always put up decent stats. If you're giving the guy a raise following years of injury, and you say he's an elite forward, then I assume that means he plays with a high degree of intelligence. Those three approaches in that power play was some of the most unintelligent hockey I've seen this year. That shouldn't happen to an elite player making over $4 million. If the Sabres don't want to get caught in nail-biters against good teams, they not only have to produce statistically, they must play intelligent, mistake free hockey.

wjag Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Pitt just caught Thomas out of the goal.. Game..

Last night the HD feed of the postgame show got caught off in order to show "The Mike D'Antoni Show." Even though I can't stand the NBA, I understand that the MSG network caters mostly to the Knicks. However, why would anyone watch a show hosted by a coach whose team is 1-9? Anyone else think that the Knicks ticket commercials are ludicrous? "High expectations" and the "Knicks" just shouldn't be stated in the same advertisement.
nobody Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Interesting comment from Lindy indicating that Darcy decided by himself to bring up Ennis.

Stoner Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Yeah, they cut the feed tonight. Returning to last year's form.. DirecTV is trying to tell me they have no control over it -- that the broadcast source cut off, no human being there decided to cut it off. I call BS.
notwoz Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Did you lose the postgame show too? DirecTV is acting like the problem is in my set. I wiggled the rabbit ears and everything. Oh yeah. they dropped the post game show so fast it made my head swim. Direct TV customer support is the pits. those people don't have a clue. I'd rather talk to the demented homeless panhandlers in downtown DC. Right now, channel 638 is lshowing some show trying to sell some rundown duplex in Fort Meyers Florida (the windows are boarded up) and the bidding just went from 10K to 5K and now 7.5K

I call BS. You are right my friend. I have dish network and was able to watch the entirety of the postgame show, followed by commercials before i changed the channel. If dish was able to show the postgame show, then guess what, the broadcast source was not cut off. It's DTV's control room that makes that call.

I call BS. Actually, Directv may have a case here. MSG most likely controls the signals and what is broadcast. that doesn't change the fact that Directv support absolutely sucks.
R_Dudley Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Two excellent efforts in two consecutive games against tough, physical teams. That's a promising sign. defintely not last years team and I'm loving it. Did you lose the postgame show too? DirecTV is acting like the problem is in my set. I wiggled the rabbit ears and everything. Yeah and thats been happening with all the recent games... Maybe if enough of us complain we can get them to leave it on for us out of towner's. Interesting comment from Lindy indicating that Darcy decided by himself to bring up Ennis. Well the kid had a nice game tonight and could have had a least one other. At one point a line of Kennedy, Ennis and Kaleta out their looked pretty awesome. Overall a great game to watch and see this team growing and learning to win and play together. Kaleta was a one man wrecking ball out there tonight.. lets hope they realize they can play this style and still play a good control the puck up tempo game... Problem is now the void till next game  ...
... Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Problem is now the void till next game  ... A problem for us, but I'll take it after these four days and let the boys get their rest. They deserved it this time. Actually, it's only a problem because now all we'll hear about until Wednesday at 4pm is the Bills. I hate that damn team.

Actually, it's only a problem because now all we'll hear about until Wednesday at 4pm is the Bills. I hate that damn team. True that.... As far as the Bills,, Ughhh. And I have tickets to the 11/29 Miami game which I'm not looking foward to with how they have been playing. Oh well it's a once a year family and old friend get together/tail gate so I'll just look to enjoy that part..
... Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Your avatar is awesome! Thanks, although I'm considering putting the old Jesus Miller one back up. Pommers doesn't need the doubtful looks from "the men" anymore.
darksabre Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Beating the Flyers always feels soooo good. and props to the Philthy fans for booing when Butler was down on the ice bleeding. Classy guys, classy.

nfreeman Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Well that'll take the rust off your tailpipe! I want to go back 24 hours and do it all over again. Not since Vaclav Varada has a Sabre tormented the Flyers like this. Was Ruff looking into the crowd for the fan who threw the beer on him in 00? Good stuff... He was too busy coaching this team to another stirring victory. A little? Why did they give this guy a raise? I hate to nit pick after a victory but that short handed goal is on him. That was his THIRD attempt at a weak entry into the zone! I mean is he too good to dump the puck and chase to create opportunities? I don't understand how a power play, when you're up 2 goals with roughly 9 minutes to go in the game, suddenly means that you can deviate from trying to possess the puck and close out the game. It's nights like this that make me laugh at Darcy when he explained how important Connolly is to the Sabres success when he signed him at last years deadline. Connolly leads the forwards in ice time frequently, although not always, and if he stays healthy will probably be the team's leading scorer this year. He's good on the backcheck, he kills penalties and he's good on the power play. He's significantly better than Pominville, who makes more than he does. He didn't get a completely unearned raise to $7MM per year, like someone else we know did. What exactly do you think you are entitled to for $4.5MM per year? Do you mean a specific Sabre tormenting the team? Otherwise, there's always , of which I never, ever, ever will tire. That was outstanding. Thanks. That was a sweet game to watch. Last weekend Buffalo allowed Flyers to wear their third jersey in Buffalo. Buffalo wore the ugly whites and lost the game. Tonight Buffalo got to wear the third blue and paid them pack. The slug really is an eyesore, esp. compared with the classic logo on the 3rd jerseys. defintely not last years team and I'm loving it. 100% agree. A few other notes: 1. As I said last night, Gaustad's $2.3MM per year doesn't seem so expensive now, does it? He fought Phaneuf last night as part of sticking up for MacArthur, and he tried to fight Pronger tonight. He wore the A tonight (didn't see who had the other one, although I noticed that it wasn't Roy). This kid is stepping up into a leadership role. He reminds me of Jim Schoenfeld. 2. Another great win against a very good, explosive team. That was a major step forward in the mental toughness journey. And they won both games without Grier. 3. Myers led the team in ice time for the 2nd night in a row. 4. 2 bad penalties from Vanek. Lazy, immature, lose the forecheck battle and use your stick instead of skating penalties. He got another PP goal out of the tic-tac-toe with Roy and Mac though. 5. Ennis looked pretty good. It's significant that he got the call over Gerbe and Mancari. That first round with Myers and Ennis (btw, we got Ennis as part of the Soupy trade) could end up as an all-time great haul for the Sabres. Also, Kennedy set that goal up nicely. 6. Pominville is still missing the net too often. 7. Great team D on the penalty kill. 8. Another terrific game from Miller. 9. It's going to be challenging to control expectations at this point.
