I'm usually not into death commemoration threads but this one hit home. I remember fondly listening to the Big Whistle and Jim Gordon do Ranger games as kid after we moved away from WNY. It wasn't the Sabres, but it was hockey. Platinum pair compared to most of the dross painting the game picture today (at least south of the Canadian border).
