SDS Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 what does it mean when it is reported: "Moore didn't reveal his injury until after the season." How did he know it was broken? Did he not see a doctor? Did this doctor not report this to management? Did management not report this on the injury list? How does one get away with having a broken bone, but no one knows about it?

You can play with pain for a while. When you finally see why there is pain, a broken bone can be the reason. In my travels, I have realized that doctors don't know $&!# and they take their cue from the patient.
Two or less Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Only thing i can think of is he played though the injury to try to get a bigger deal. He asked for $2.5 million/per from Toronto before the deadline and Leafs said no way and traded him. I'm sure he wanted to play and impress to get a big payday last summer. Unlikely for him though, he got a real small deal and had to play with a lot of pain.

DM claims that he didn't "reveal" it. How did he find out himself? did he just say, "ow" and not have a doctor look at it? That's hard to believe.

Played with pain... then went to a doctor after the season? Or, went to a personal doctor? I understand what you're saying but what i'm trying to say is i can understand why he wouldn't tell the FO... but i understand your question of how did he know.

I see what your saying, I'm guessing he taped it up, played with the pain and didnt see a legit doctor til after the season. I wonder how many of these types of injuries do go under the radar though, you know?

I wonder how many of these types of injuries do go under the radar though, you know? legit doctor? I'm sure he went to a real, legit doctor, but he went to his own doctor and didn't report it to the team. Confidentiality laws require doctors to maintain confidentiality about their patients. If he went to a personal doctor, he could have had a broken arm diagnosis and refused medical treatment till after the season. Nothing anyone can do about it.
wjag Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Is it possible he came as damaged goods? Do hockey players go thru physicals like other sports?
wonderbread Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 To bad he broke his wrist but I am happy to see it result in a lower payday. i'm one of those types of fans that is fed up with marginal players that seem to expect big $ every 7/1. Maybe it will serve as an example of what can happen to other players that have possible LTD in place and hold out for a bigger payday. Food for thought. What if Drury blew out his knee on the Sabres playoff run his final year here?
Foligno's Nose Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I am curious about this guy's intelligence. He really boned himself by not accepting the offer from Burke. It meant a spot on one of the top two lines in TO. A lot of ice time for him was in the mix. The Florida team isn't all bad, but... Moore also had that work visa issue come up again with him. What is the deal with that? He may be an Ivy league graduate, but I am wondering WTF.
carpandean Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 From the BN article: Dominic Moore didn't want to seem soft right off the bat. He'd just been traded to the Buffalo Sabres. His wrist wasn't feeling great, but what NHL player is in peak condition in March? Turns out, he and the Sabres should have looked deeper into the ailment. Moore fractured his wrist shortly after being acquired at the trade deadline last season. --- "It's one of those things where you're not really sure what it is," Moore said. "You get bumps and bruises all the time, but if you're in the training room for any kind of pain you'd be in there all day, every day, all year. I had talked about it with them. We didn't think it was anything serious. It ended up being a fractured wrist."
Foligno's Nose Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Not to belabor the Dominic Moore discussion but found this today: http://www.torontosun.com/sports/columnists/steve_simmons/2009/10/25/11517856-sun.html Interesting. Go Leafs Blow! See you Friday bottom feeders.
Foligno's Nose Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Too lazy to set up an official vote. What is the better chant: Go! Leafs! Blow! Blow! Leafs! Blow!or Go! Leafs! Suck!
