Calvin Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 Just saw this on Twitter.. Paille has been traded to the Bruins.. more details to follow more from Twitter - B's acquire Daniel Paille from BUF for a 3rd rd pick in 2010 and a conditional 4th rd pick in 2010
Chief Enabler Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 more from Twitter - B's acquire Daniel Paille from BUF for a 3rd rd pick in 2010 and a conditional 4th rd pick in 2010 Kobasew, now Paille. This clearly strikes me as a pro-active Bruins move to somewhere...... My question is, what is the upside to a 3rd and 4th rounder??? On Paille (20th overall)....I dont get it.
SDS Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 yeah, we just posted the link on the front page.
todzilla Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I don't like seeing him go to a division rival, where he will inevitabily will come back and score game winners on us 3 times a year. That said, I think that is a good deal. He was not going to be an everyday guy here unless we have a rash of injuries, now we have a couple chances to add someone who will be.
novascotiaguy Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 PIE-YEA! is now PIE-NAY! I guess we just needed room with all the depth and he has been struggling not sure if i like the move but some one had to go
Calvin Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 I guess we just needed room with all the depth and he has been struggling not sure if i like the move but some one had to go Someone had to go, and I'd rather him than anyone else. I thought we should have gotten more for a first-rounder.. that being said he did have seven years to prove himself Do we fill the gap with the kids, or bring in some veteran depth?
LabattBlue Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I have little problem with the deal. He has been in Ruff's doghouse and clearly was not a favorite of the coach. I still think he can be a solid 3rd line player who can score 15-20 goals and help on the PK. Let's just hope the Paille who was named "OHL Body Checker of the Year" doesn't decide to make an appearance in Boston.
frisky Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Maybe they are counting on some of the kids to take up his potential in the next years like Kassian. I'm sure he will come back to bite us in the ass cause that's they way it is. We won't know how it will have worked out for a while but I'm okay with it. MacArthur is playing well. Kennedy is going good. Perhaps, Grier will be here again next year. Etc.
LabattBlue Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 It is being rumored on HF boards that the Sabres get the 4th if Paille scores 16+ goals this year.

Two or less Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Oh well. He sucked anyways. Glad Darcy pulled the trigger. He had to make some type of move. He must have not gotten much offers if he send him to Boston.
darksabre Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I don't think it matters where Paille was picked. Obviously has not performed as a No.1 pick. Exactly. If his play was noteworthy I wouldn't like this. But he hasn't been remarkable so bye bye Danny.

There is a lot of talk that they are gathering up prospects/picks to make a move for Kovalchuk. As of right now, they have 9 picks in the first 2 rounds in the next 2 years. Picks and some of their big young kids could land Kovy...
repster Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I'm sure this was good news to Nathan Gerbe. Just a little closer to getting a call up if there's an injury. After practice, it sounded like Pommers and Vanek were both hurt, although they probably won't miss any time. Point is, injuries always seem to creep up with this team.

After practice, it sounded like Pommers and Vanek were both hurt, although they probably won't miss any time. Point is, injuries always seem to creep up with this team. And that scares me. I don't think Gerbe is worthy of being the top call up. It doesn't even matter who he replaces. We have absolutely no depth at forward (skilled forward) at all. We have tons of grinders.... McCormick, Cowen, Schutz, even Mancari i guess you could say and obviously Ellis/Mair.
SwampD Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Rats! And my Paille jersey just showed up in the mail today, too.
nobody Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 It is being rumored on HF boards that the Sabres get the 4th if Paille scores 16+ goals this year. That's what the article on nhl.com said.
mikegrier Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Rats! And my Paille jersey just showed up in the mail today, too. Oh man that is some sh*t luck
mikegrier Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Just saw this on Twitter.. Paille has been traded to the Bruins.. more details to follow I'm really torn by this trade, I can see how it had to be made, but then again it goes against our whole "depth" idea and with the rash of injuries we have had to overcome..i'm speechless on this 1
wonderbread Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 great we just lost the OHL body checker of the year. Lucic will probably teach him to how to use the body again.
jimiVbaby Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I'm only surprised because I thought you had to get salary back when you trade salary.... and come to think of it, I thought Boston had a problem with the cap as it is? Either way, Danny wasn't going to play significant minutes on this team and they made a move.

Either way, Danny wasn't going to play significant minutes on this team and they made a move. Boston has the ability to spend way over the cap and thus can absorb salaries on long term injured lists and any salary they may have to send down to NHL.
