sweeper Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Who else would they sit? Reggie I suppose if he starts sucking..
LabattBlue Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Who else would they sit? I would guess it would be between Montador and Tallinder. If Sekera is in the press box, this team is in trouble.
sweeper Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I highly doubt they signed Montador to sit him, especially this early in the season...I haven't really noticed him much thus far, so I couldn't comment on how he's been playing.
Eleven Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 It's really too soon to tell. Myers was freaking great on Saturday. There are eight games left before a decision is made, and I--just a fan--want to see those eight. I'll bet Lindy and Darcy want to, too, knowing those two. (Yep, spelling thread fans, I got all of the 2s in, with 5 words.)
X. Benedict Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Who else would they sit? Reggie I suppose if he starts sucking.. Game 1 was a stinker for him.
FearTheReaper Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I dont expect Myers to be here all season. Regier is not the man to hurry any player. And where would that leave Hank? Is Darcy going to waive him? Is it possible to trade him? I say if there is a taker, trade Hank and some picks or a prospect for some size within the top 6. How is the Generals stock nowadays? Is it possible to trade Mac,Hank and a high pick for someone of importance? Anaheim would take this for Getzlaf right? Lmmfao. I think the second line left wing slot is the weakest point of this team. Imagine someone with size playing on our 2nd line! The top six could look like this: Vanek-Connolly-Stafford (new Power Forward)-Roy-Pominville

I think Darcy hinted that they tried to trade him but had no takers. Most other teams probably think less of him that we do even. While I don't think they'll scratch him the whole season, I don't think they'll wave him either. He's the odd man out, but what to do with him is the real problem. Which move will they actually make?
Patty16 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 butler rivet and montador played 23 mins, Sekera played 22 mins, tallinder 17 and Myers 16, I dont think sekera sits, your best guys get the most ice, Lindy liked sekera more than tallinder and the mins show it. Myers isnt gonna get much more than 16 mins to start to protect him, hes a rookie and is gonna make some mistakes liek he did saturday. I think Its myers or tallinder but in all likelihood its gonna be tallinder. Just hard to tell where they are coming from.
nfreeman Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Game 1 was a stinker for him. Well, I have to disagree on this one. I thought Reggie had a pretty strong first game even though he was victimized on the Habs' 1st goal. I thought he skated very well and carried the puck with good confidence. butler rivet and montador played 23 mins, Sekera played 22 mins, tallinder 17 and Myers 16, I dont think sekera sits, your best guys get the most ice, Lindy liked sekera more than tallinder and the mins show it. inkman Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I dont expect Myers to be here all season. If the first 2 games are any indication, he's not going anywhere. He's close to being their best defenseman, right now. Offensively, he looks to have more natural instinct than any of the other Sabres D.

Offensively, he looks to have more natural instinct than any of the other Sabres D. I think this is the kicker. This kid just knows where to go with the puck, when to force it and when not to. I saw many more passes out of Montador that worried me last game than Myers over the last two.

inkman Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Yes -- his hockey IQ is high. He's also got good hands and feet. He's the real deal. It's like being in a new relstionship, I think I want to make out with him.
Barnabov Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 If Myers plays the next 7 games at same level of first 2, there's no way he should be sent back to juniors - doing so will really show that management & ownership have no commitment to putting the best team possible on the ice.
korab rules Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 It's like being in a new relstionship, I think I want to make out with him. Do his big hands and feet have anything to do with that desire???
todzilla Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 He looked good last night, not just on the assist, but bringing the puck up, pinching in, tying guys up behind the net. Darcy and Lindy know this team needs to make the playoffs this year and he will help us get there.
sabr_fn Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 my thought, which is similar to most, is that he will play 8/9 games and they will decide at that time. i hope they keep him because i agree that the juniors have nothing to offer him except an injury. he is a better puck handler than the other d, moves the puck better than the other d, he is a no-brainer to keep. i am thinking darcy should package hank and paille. the two of them have to be worth a 5th round pick? keep myers--loose hank and paille? wouldn't this leave room on the for mair, ellis and myers? i apologize if this has already been discuss here or elsewhere...

Darcy and Lindy know this team needs to make the playoffs this year and he will help us get there. 2 games played...2 3rd stars. The guy is here to stay. The Sabres are in uncharted waters with this kid. His hockey IQ, poise and ability are that of a 10 year vet. I keep looking for panic in his game & I'm not going to hold my breathe in the process....I might end up dead.
shrader Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Every game is not going to go as smoothly as these first two for him. We need to remember that. This doesn't mean he needs to be sent back though. There are going to be bumps in the road, but right now he deserves to stick.

You are correct and when it does happen, he just needs to sit in the press box for a few games. He should not go back to juniors.
grelit Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 The Sabres are cheap. I voted him to stay up, but that cheapness side just might come to the forefront. They need him to stay. It's the changing of the guard and he's the future. Hell, maybe others will see it's not so tough to clear the crease when someone enters it. I don't think they are cheap, they just aren't always smart with who they throw money at.... They have been pretty close to the cap in recent years...not sure if we can call that cheap.
nobody Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 My opinion of Darcy as the Sabres GM will hit rock bottom if Myers is sent back. (Though I still expect it.)
