Stoner Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 After the loss to the Habs, in which the Sabres held the Canadiens to something like 14 shots, and one in the third period, Miller was asked by Paul Hamilton about the stout defensive effort. "It doesn't help my stats at all, but I don't really mind," he said. He went on to praise his boys. Before the question, Miller seemed a bit irked that only one shot on goal was put on the board by the stat man in the third period. I'm not sure what this is all about.

I wouldn't read into unless you just enjoy poking & prodding for boredom's sake...

This board is for poking and prodding, and I'm bored only because the team is so deadly boring. I don't see how the comment represents competitive fire. What do you mean? "Stats" is the operative word.

I think he very much wants to start for team USA in the Olympics, and is aware that stats will be looked at. Never heard him mention stats before. Miller's stats have never been much to look at, other than in the w/l column. That is the one stat where he has looked pretty good over the years, and really the only one that matters.

Someone once said inside every joke is a kernel of truth. If he hadn't preceded the quoted comment with a reference to the shot clock not being right, I might agree. Maybe Ryan's not thrilled with the idea of playing on a team that plays that well defensively and makes him less of the story.

"I want more shots" "I wish the guys would stop playing so well defensively". This has got to stop. Lindy has to nip this baby now. Start Lalime instead of this whiny baby of a goalie named Miller. Oh I forgot this :rolleyes:
