pkb Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I usually read TBN. WGR does a decent job too but I rarely have the radio on. There's a lot of coverage those two sources either miss or cover improperly though I think. I'm sure many of you agree. Personally I'm always looking for more opinions and commentary regarding the Sabres as long as they're properly outlined. What do you guys think? Are you looking for content like I am and if so, where do you go to to find new and interesting stuff?
darksabre Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I agree SDS, but I'll answer him anyways. I come here for my Sabres Commentary. Because I like to interact with those who have opinions, not just be talked at by some DJ or tv sports news reporter.
Eleven Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I agree SDS, but I'll answer him anyways. Agreed--also the front page of this site usually has excellent links on game days and the days immediately after games.
pkb Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 Maybe my choice of words made this topic seem strange. I don't know. I guess I was looking for people to suggest names like John Buccigross or James Mirtle even though they're obviously national voices. I think message boards are great if you can find one with a strong community of people that are actually trying to contribute something decent. Too often message boards are filled with people that only like saying things like "Obama sucks!!" and I don't care to listen to those people. I'd love it if SabreSpace were different. If it is I'll be around.

pkb Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 I'm new here so maybe that's the problem. You guys must care what's being said about the Sabres outside of this messageboard.
SDS Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I'm new here so maybe that's the problem. You guys must care what's being said about the Sabres outside of this messageboard. We aren't the largest message board out there and that's ok, because we have a low tolerance for knuckledraggers, although we keep DeLuca around to remind us of what we're missing. However, your 1st post is generally a lead into, "Hey, guess what Sabre site I think is great ". If you're not here to pimp some other site, and you are generally looking for a good, friendly crowd of intelligent posters - then you have come to the right place. :)
Stoner Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Git! Git! PA his shotgun! We don't want yer kind here. We got everthing we need. Don't need no new blood. We keep it in the family here in the Aud Club. is nice 'n' easy.

If you're not here to pimp some other site, and you are generally looking for a good, ornery crowd of intelligent posters - then you have come to the right place. :) Fixed that for ya. :P
inkman Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I'm new here so maybe that's the problem. You guys must care what's being said about the Sabres outside of this messageboard. I'll be the board chump an bite. No message board board will offer the insight and intelligence you'll find here. Somehow they tolerate me, but I call this place home. It's always interesting and good for a few chuckles. Some posters really have their #%^$#! together and offer great input, hope you stickaround.
Two or less Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I'll also agree to say this is the best message board. The "hockey" topics here are like no other. Everyone here loves hockey and besides one dude, everyone loves the Sabres. Most of us read other "sites" but not forums because once you find the best one, why go somewhere else? Pierre LeBrun's espn blog is very good, Jim Kelley's sportsnet.ca blog, Darren Dreger's TSN blog and the Buffalo News. That and James Mirtle and WGR that you mentioned, is what i read plus come here daily. Even promoting a forum here wouldn't help you, so if that's your goal, might as well hit up the next forum. Most people here are pretty loyal to this forum and for good reason.
wonderbread Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 You should check out hockeybuzz.com.
... Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I've been meaning to PM DeLuca67 for more in depth commentary than what he usually provides here.
darksabre Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 You should check out hockeybuzz.com. stop giving BamBam e-traffic.
nfreeman Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Here? Correct. Also, Die by the Blade and sabresprospects.com have a decent amount of good sabres-only content. And there are quite a few interviews with DR, LR and the players posted as podcasts on wgr and ice chips (sabres.com). For broader NHL print, I like James Mirtle, Puck Daddy, NHL Fanhouse and the Globe and Mail. For podcasts, I like Globe and Mail sports roundtable, puck podcast and (believe it or not) Gary Bettman's radio show. That right there proves this guy doesn't watch the Sabre at all. It's always darkest before the dawn. I think you should head for sabres.com message boards and never look back. ;) Unsportsmanlike conduct.
billsrcursed Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 You should check out this Eck guy. He's usually dead on and never has an agenda... Honestly, this is the best "forum" you're going to find. Small community, the members here really know their stuff, and even disagreements are tamed and well spoken. This is a great place for Sabres info./conversation! Good luck finding what you're looking for and if you stick around, welcome!!
carpandean Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Most of us read other "sites" but not forums because once you find the best one, why go somewhere else? Come on now, I saw you over at LSG. :nana: Seriously, though, I started reading and posting at LSG during the offseason last year when things were slow. Definitely some younger posters over there and a few that you have to ignore, but not a bad second choice. However, this will always be home.

Definitely some younger posters over there and a few that you have to ignore, but not a bad second choice. However, this will always be home. My problem with LGS is that it makes me angry. For some reason I cannot control myself over there. I can never tell if what I'm saying is right, or just that the responses are so off base that I question myself.
shrader Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Things are picking up a bit now finally, but this really isn't the best time to ask this question or to look around for what you might like. Once the season actually gets started, then you get the true feel for what a site has to offer.
