frisky Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Just noticed in case any one else missed it but the media guide has been posted for this year. Lo and behold no sluggie on the cover. Since when are we the city of hockey? Did they just pick that out of the air?

LabattBlue Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Since when are we the city of hockey? Did they just pick that out of the air? 1. Hockeytown was already taken. 2. Quinny wore out the pencil sharpener and didn't have anything else to do. 3. They are trying to come up with something sillier than the slug in order to reduce the ridicule as they slowly phase it out only a few seasons into its existence.
shrader Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Boston created their own stupid nickname a couple years back too, "the hub of hockey". It was lame then, this is lame now.

TM8-PL16 Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 I actually like the "city of hockey" tag line... and I really like the fact that the slug is being phased out big time. Unfortunately it is used on many pages but no where near what you would think the 'primary' logo would be used for. Hopefully this is the last year we have to deal with any slug crap... I like the stamp looking, vintage type logo that is appearing on the website too

sweeper Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Other than on pictures of players on their jerseys, the slug does not appear on even one single season ticket this year.

Passport stamps--cool. Still, it's tough, from the face of some of the tickets, to figure out who the Sabres are playing.
