Wow, who knew the Peters thread would be one of the more interesting to read this offseason...

Sure beats the heck out of the weekly whine and all the off topics... At least this one held a reasonable debate...

Let me attempt to summarize the opinion of this thread:

  • Peters served his role,
No one is sad to see him go,
    His fighting style was atrocious,
He probably was a good deal for team-anomics,
    He was/wasn't a good guy

Now back to the offseason dribble of what's your favorite brand of underwear... Oh wait, that one has started yet.. Perhaps a poll is in order

Well summarized. I'd add that he willingly served his roll...seemingly took pride in it, which if a certain few other members of the team did, I think we'd have made the playoffs the last couple of years.

Of course Andrew is a great guy, and he was good for team morale. He wasn't a very spectacular fighter though. Mike Foligno could kick his but in his hayday. Peters waits to long to throw a punch and he's slow and easy to get off balance. He's had a few good ones though. But he's no Schoeny or Ray or Foligno. They were consistent. I'd rather watch Nathan Paetsch fight than Peters. Paetsch has that fire, which I've noticed in McCormick amd Cowan as well. I'm not trying to put Andrew down, just saying what I see in front of me. Good luck Andrew.

He has to make it, though. I wonder if he DID get other offers, and I also wonder what the Devils GM meant by saying Peters brings something "unique". Could be the Devils locker room needs to lighten up?

Maybe they can see what I've always seen in Peters. The guy has shown little drops of talent when given the opportunity, but has always been relegated to the enforcer role. I think with the right coaching and line mates, he could be a legit 4th liner rather than just a bench warmer and enforcer.

I'm not saying I'm not ecstatic he's gone, because I am. I'm just waiting for that first goal he'd undoubtedly score against us.

You are being kind. I think you needed more emphasis on the word "little" as in "little to none".

No, the Devils need someone to show the rookies around the rink and around town.

Dare I say that some on this board feel that Peters was clearly the Dany Heatley of showing people around and will be missed in that role.
