Buffalo Fan Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 He got a lot of flack over the years, but he was a good and loyal Sabre. From a personality stand-point (as much as you can "know" a guy from listening to games and reading about him) Peters is a good guy. Good luck to you AP!

nfreeman Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Well, he was OK, but he was no Cal Drury, that's for sure.
darksabre Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Well, he was OK, but he was no Cal Drury, that's for sure. You mean Cam?
Buffalo Fan Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 You mean Cam? Yup, feel like a j@ck@ass on that one...

Buffalo Fan Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 :nana: However, I came across this really cool video of Rhett Warrener (I looked it up)smashing the glass in front of the goal judge to help my fellow owls forget about this snafu! [media]
darksabre Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 However, I came across this really cool video of Rhett Warrener (I looked it up)smashing the glass in front of the goal judge to help my fellow owls forget about this snafu! [media] Oh alright, we'll let it go this time. In your defense though, the original topic of the thread is that Andrew Peters was a good guy. I'll give you that. He played his role here for many years until it was decided that we no longer needed him. I agree with you and also wish him luck with whatever he does next.
Eleven Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 He got a lot of flack over the years, but he was a good and loyal Sabre. From a personality stand-point (as much as you can "know" a guy from listening to games and reading about him) Peters is a good guy. Good luck to you AP! No, he's not a good guy, at all. He's a complete the ice, and one suspects on it, as well. He's a marginal NHLer, to boot. In his defense, I have heard from credible sources that he's a great dressing room guy and that he treats team staff nicely. I guess the Sabres will lose those benefits. Otherwise, well, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, you know? (Yeah, I did like the way he went after Ottawa when Drury went down. Big deal. I think Tallinder would have fought in that instance.)
... Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 While I have read and "heard" things that would make me conclude that, yes, Andrew Peters is what I'd call a "good guy", in all honesty it would be complete speculation on my part to say publicly that Peters is definitively a "good guy". For all I know, he could have his dark moments, too. Maybe his wife and/or dog have or have had issues with the man (assuming he is a man - can we make this leap without too much argument?) which, if known, would make me think that, nay, he is not what I'd call a "good guy" after all. Speculating on qualities, either positive or negative qualities, is not commenting based on fact. Which would be opinion in most cases anyway. I don't think we need to open the can of worms that is his alleged "loyalty". So, the fact is that Peters is not signed to the Sabres. As far as we know, at least, which really doesn't make it fact, but rather accurate speculation based on available facts. Here are the latest set of facts and speculation surrounding Peters' situation: http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/story/766650.html I wish him, and any person looking for work, well.
Eleven Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 :) I knew that was coming. That was a classic moment.
Hawerchuk Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 The Buffalo Sabres do not need his playing style. That will not win you a Stanley Cup. He definitely stood up for his mates, but in the end, he is taking up a roster spot instead of a player who can actually play hockey and score goals. Bottom line. I don't hate him, but I want wins; not penalty minute leaders. So long AP!
SabreFan78 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 so long ap. hope you enjoyed your time here. now you can look forward to kicking around in the ahl for a few years. minor league talent.....this was a long time coming. nice guy but the sabres just don't need someone like this wasting a roster space any longer.
wjag Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Someone else will take his place in the press box. No matter what, it will be a wash.. He had his moments, so too will be that other guy who gets 3 minutes a week.
tom webster Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Whether you think he is or was a good guy or liked his style of play, the fact remains that he is loved by his team and he deserved to be told that the organIzation was heading in another direction. Just typical Buffalo Sabre's m.o.

Just typical Buffalo Sabre's m.o. I think he probably has been told--the article in the Buffalo News mentions that he "knows" Buffalo isn't where he'll be next year, and I know that at least three weeks ago, he was telling people that he expected to be elsewhere.
inkman Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I think he probably has been told--the article in the Buffalo News mentions that he "knows" Buffalo isn't where he'll be next year, and I know that at least three weeks ago, he was telling people that he expected to be elsewhere. ...but lets not ruin a good moment to knock the front office.
Eric in Akron Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Actually, I think last year they wanted to see if he could bring something else to the game like Chris Neil. AP played pretty regularly at the beginning of the season, but he never stepped it up (much like others on the team with more talent) and he became Paetsch's partner in the pressbox. In the end, he played his role and never complained.
Calvin Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 whoever we get to fill AP's role in the team (McCormick?) needs to do much much more - no longer can we afford the luxury of a roster player on ice for 3-5 minutes a game. he had some good fights over the years, but nothing exceptional. i've met him a couple of times after games, and he's a d*ck. one was a season-ending game two years ago in Boston, where understandably everyone was disappointed because we missed the playoffs, but every single player on the roster stopped by when coming out of the dressing room, and even though they were dejected, signed autographs and took pictures with fans. Peters? he comes out, pushes a security guy out of the way, climbs over the barrier into the fan area and goes right to the back to shoot the sh*t with a couple of his friends, blankly ignoring anyone who asked for a pic/auto and glaring at anyone who even looked him in the eye. i'm sure he had his issues, everyone's got an off day, but hey, when you're in a business where your salary comes out of the fan's pockets, you have to earn it, and frankly, he didn't. over the last five years i might have seen maybe one-two Peters jerseys - i've seen more Paetsch jerseys in the crowd! fare thee well AP, thanks for everything.
tom webster Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 ...but lets not ruin a good moment to knock the front office. There is no doubt he "knows." However, if he was told, he would have said so. All these players have exit interviews and Buffalo could easily have told him at that time that they were going in another direction. They didn't and that is not surprising.
Bmwolf21 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I think he probably has been told--the article in the Buffalo News mentions that he "knows" Buffalo isn't where he'll be next year, and I know that at least three weeks ago, he was telling people that he expected to be elsewhere. In the News article I see a lot of phrases that suggest he doesn't "know" but more that he can read the writing on the wall that says he won't be back - words like "if" and "assumes" and "resigned himself."
inkman Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 They didn't and that is not surprising. I certainly have had my issues with the front office, but where does this acrimony stem from? Peca? Hasek? Nolan? Lafontaine?
wonderbread Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I certainly have had my issues with the front office, but where does this acrimony stem from? Peca? Hasek? Nolan? Lafontaine? triple word score homey. Nice play.
