nfreeman Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I'd suggest having a line or something similar setting the pinned threads at the top apart from the rest of the threads (like was the case previously). Also, I mentioned this in the other thread, but just so you have it here: the link on the sabrespace.com still says "the harbor club".
darksabre Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Oh boy, this is going to take a while to get used to. Lemme fiddle around a bit and then give my critique.
SDS Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 Oh boy, this is going to take a while to get used to. Lemme fiddle around a bit and then give my critique. just keep in mind that I only got the skin far enough along to use... it is far from finished.
darksabre Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 just keep in mind that I only got the skin far enough along to use... it is far from finished. Sure thing, and actually I've already adapted pretty fast. Some small things though. -The big yellow tab at the top yelling that you're on the Forums. It breaks everything up too much. -The user profile section is having some issues. Check my profile to see what I mean, everything is on top of itself. -I would love to have the text on threads be un-bolded when the thread has been read. It always made reading this forum easy.

That would scale the photo down to fit the space in your profile.
nobody Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 As I said in the other thread: The insert link seems to be half off my browser with no information to tell me what i'm doing. (Maybe that is on the side i can't see.) Also that insert link doesn't seem to do what I hoped. Maybe insert media? http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/15532-rebuilding-posts-in-the-database/page__view__findpost__p__159825 No. I guess insert link link to other post

Eric in Akron Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 thanks... I'm really missing the breadcrumb trail at the bottom of the page. Edit: Nevermind, I found the link to go back to forum home. I know your working on your stylesheet but the link is pretty tiny.
SDS Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 Gotcha. And no I'm not, I just hold it well. ;) from the post a picture page: This section will allow you to specify a photo to be used in your profile which is viewable by other board members. All photos must be no larger than 100 kB. Photos must be no bigger than 150 pixels by 150 pixels.

Stoner Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I find the main forum page unnecessarily cluttered. Maybe the old one was as well, but I've already totally forgotten what it looked like. For example: 1. Number of replies on top of number of views. 2. Time of last post on top of last poster's name. As to 1. and 2. I like to quickly glance and see who the last poster is and how many views a thread has. That's harder now. It looks like there would easily be room for five columns. 3. The word "today" isn't needed. The word "by" isn't needed either. 4. The little icon after the last poster's name isn't needed. The poster's name is already a link to the poster's profile. The icon isn't self-explanatory. I keep mousing over it to see what it is -- you expect it to be something other than a link to a profile. (And the icon is under Started By too.) 5. The "get last post" icon, under Last Post Info, also bugs me. It looks exactly like the "get new post" icon under Topic. Why would someone want to go to the last post? It all kind of adds up on my helter skelter mind. I'm sure I'm in the minority. And I don't know how many of these things can be changed anyway.
spndnchz Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 "View new Content" button. On the last board it had that button and would take me right to the page with the little yellow boxes next to the thread name. I hit this one and I get a list, no little yellow button. I click on a thread, I have to scroll to the lastest posts. (bad) If I go to Aud Club I get little orange? button that does take me to the latest posts. (good) I'd prefer the "View new content" button to take me to 1) a list of threads that a) have new shitte since I last looked.

You may want to tweak your search settings (My Settings, pulldown menu top right).
spndnchz Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 You may want to tweak your search settings (My Settings, pulldown menu top right). Clicking around, I see what you mean. It'll do it but that little yellow thingy is gone, you just click on the thread title and it goes to the first unread post. OK I guess, just miss the little yellow thingy. Edit: wait, not working. I click "new", I read. I click "new " again, they're all still there. Oh, Scott, how about the "top" button under the user? Liked that to bounce back to the top of the page again. And.... what's the + thingy do? Do I get points redeemable for merch? LOL
nobody Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 And.... what's the + thingy do? Do I get points redeemable for merch? LOL Gave you a plus for asking about that. ;) Too bad you can't take points away.
SDS Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 Gave you a plus for asking about that. ;) Too bad you can't take points away. you can... I have it disabled. We had a voting system on TSW about 6 years ago and it didn't go over well. I'm trying to figure out how to manage the settings to get some value out of the ""reputation" system. So, I just set it for "positive" points figuring that at least we know which posters get a lot of slap on the backs. I'm hesitant to allow kicks in the ass...
spndnchz Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Hey just noticed "MSN/Bing" showed up today. U've hit the big time Scott. ;)
nobody Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I'm hesitant to allow kicks in the ass... I'm sure there are a handful of posters that would relish having a large negative score.
SDS Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 Hey just noticed "MSN/Bing" showed up today. U've hit the big time Scott. ;) Funny you say that because I noticed that last night too. I'm thinking the software must recognize when Bing is here because it never showed up before today.

It is small and too easy to click on the poster instead. Should be a bigger button.
SDS Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 I agree. The thing I click the most is last post. It is small and too easy to click on the poster instead. Should be a bigger button. if you click on the date - it does the same thing.
SwampD Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 if you click on the date - it does the same thing. That's what I'm talking about. I find myself clicking on the poster often(actually happened in the old version as well). I'm just lazy and don't want to have to be that acurate with the mouse. Maybe even just making the font of the date bigger would help.
spndnchz Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Wait! I got it! "View new Content", make sure you're in "Forums" tab. Any threads with new stuff will have color in the suitcase next to the thread title. Just click on the thread title (nice and big) to go to first unread in that thread. When done, hit View new content. When you get there you'll see the suitcase is faded color now that you've read it.
SwampD Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I just noticed that the number of views is not updating.
